The Syrian government seems to be deploying Pantsir-S1 air defense systems to Libya to assist forces of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar in their battle against the Turkish-controlled Government of National Accord.

An unusual Pantisr-S1 air defense system was for the first time spotted in Libya last week, when local activists released a video of a Libyan National Army convoy moving towards the port city of Sirte besieged by Turkish-led forces.

A spokesman for the GNA forces in the region, Brig. Abdul Hadi Draa, also said that the Pantsir-S1 systems and other weapons were deployed at the Sirte airport on July 11. One of the convoys moving towards the airport included the Pantsir-S1 system on the unusual KAMAZ-6560 8×8 chassis. Previously, all the Pantsir-S1 systems operated by the LNA were based on the German MAN SX 45 8×8 chassis. This variant was supplied by Russia to the UAE, which later supplied systems to the LNA.

Other discriminant marks of the filmed Pantsir-S1 were a desert yellow paint and the older passive electronically scanned array search radar. The only country in the Middle East that operates Pantsir-S1 systems with such specifications and supports the Libyan National Army is Syria.

Earlier in 2020, Syria officially established diplomatic ties with the House of Representatives, a democratically elected body that supports the Libyan National Army and manages the daily social and economic life in the territories controlled by it.

Damascus also sees the Libyan National Army and the House of Representatives as a natural ally because they also fight against the occupation of their country by Turkey.

In the last few weeks, Syrian Il-76 cargo planes made several unusual flights between Damascus International Airport and the al-Khadim Air Base in northeast Libya. The base is known to be hosting service members of the UAE that are involved in the assist and advice mission to support Haftar’s forces. The Pantsir-S1 system spotted on the road to Sirte may have been shipped from Syria to Libya during one of these flights.

At the same time, the Syrian government currently have good relations with Egypt, the UAE – the main backers of the Libyan National Army, and obviously with Russia – the producer of Pantsir-S1 systems and the country that provides background diplomatic support to the UAE-Egypt bloc in the conflict.

The Syrian Air Defense Forces operate dozens of Pantsir-S1 systems. Most of the Syrian systems are equipped with the advanced active electronically scanned array search radar. Therefore, Damascus may have opted to sell a part of its older systems to Haftar.

If this is confirmed, this move will likely allow Syria to improve its relations with the Libyan National Army, the UAE and Egypt, complicate Turkish plans to capture Srite, and last but not least strengthen the Syrian regional positions, which were significantly undermined by the ongoing war inside the country.

As Tramp himself said of Assad…” Pure an imal”.

<- Beware the Jew

Drumpf would know, I suppose!

HiaNd

So happy for Assad posturing as statesman and helping other country…against Turk parasite. Good luck Assad !

Fog of War

Right, because the Syrian war is over and Syria is back to normal. Why not use the Pansir against Israhell or ZioAmerica ? If Turkey is such a threat to Syria why does Russia play footsie with them ? This is a giant theater.

HiaNd

Of course war is not over. But there is huge effect on pride of Syrians – with the fact that they “help” some other country fighting Turks. It is obvious that Russia is behind all that (not to offend Turkey publicly)and that Syria will get newer more advanced Pantsir instead. Russian relations in the region (with Syria, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt etc…) are malty layered and complicated game. Dosen’t look nice from time to time… but it still works.

Icarus Tanović

It is just obvious that Russia is partner with Iran. To say the least.

HiaNd

I am not very strong when it comes to such nuances. I have no deeper insight how their relationships works (Syria, Iran, Russia, Hezbollah)

Icarus Tanović

It works well with Iran. Very well.

HiaNd

Glad to hear it. They need to stick together i troubled times like these.

Erol

I think Assad just found a way to sell of the crapy Pantsirs and took his chance. Everybody knows, that Turkish Drones have the bad behavior to eat Pantsirs.

HiaNd

The same story goes on. In the soviet times their weapons systems were equal if not often better than the Western yet they were too often labeled not to be good. Mostly because the operators were not up to the task and because they were using export versions that had reduced performance. Every kind of Russian missile system produced today is either as good as anything West produces or much much better. That’s all I have to say to you.

Icarus Tanović

Russians are more technologically advanced. Just that ZIS gun from WWII is regulary used in Syria, Yemen, NA, etc.

Mustafa Mehmet

yeah.. he needs help himself good luck Mr terrorist assad

HiaNd

There no bigger state terrorists than Turks and Israel, in the region. Assad is educated civilized man who fights for sovereignty of his country against barbaric attacks of all kinds of terrorists (including Turkey)

Mustafa Mehmet

Assad family civilized 1? dreaming

HiaNd

Maybe in Turkey Erdogan’s family is in charge in good old tribal tradition but in Syria there is only one democratically elected person who is in charge.

Your president has put half of the Turkey in prison.

Mustafa Mehmet

Democratically elected by whom? half off the population left the country. 1 Mill been killed by assad and gangs. that’s call assad democracy. and let me tell you I don’t agree with Erdoğan policy as well

HiaNd

Democratically elected by the population that was there at the time. Of course “they left” because NATO (USA, Turkey) Israel and many others did everything to start the war. And you want to put the blame on Assad for that? Lol !

While whole planet today knows that Turkey, Israel,USA, UK, Saudi’s and many others are terrorist supporters and terrorists themselves.

Jens Holm

You not even know what democracy is.

A random check up fx by this this link

SAYS SYRIA IS NUMBER 164 IN DEMOCRACY

HiaNd

I couldn’t care less about terrorist Neo-colonial West (supporters of Islamic terrorism) telling rest of the world what is right and what is wrong. Comparing to Middle Eastern standards and to your NATO buddy dictator and terrorist Erdogan or Saudi’s… Syria did look quite “democratic” before the war started ( at least enough “democratic” for Arab country standards )

Sencer

Very democratic indeed. Opening fire on civilians at Hama and succeeding to transform a demonstration into a civil war , torturing 14-15 year olds , mutilating their genitals and killing them for writing ‘ people want change’ on to some walls, beating hell out of parents who asked what happened to their children. People are still being tortured in Assad prisons as you post above.

Syrians are nothing but tradable goods being inherited from father to son, thats the Syrian democracy.

And you are trying to sugarcoat him with ‘ but but he was very democratic when compared to his buddies in ME ” kind of arguments.

HiaNd

Turkey is nothing but the trouble and nobody likes you.

Go away Turk, I can’t be bothered to waste my words on you.

Sencer

If you dont want to be answered , then dont post in a public forum. Try small and cosy threads where uninformed leftists like you try to present dictators as angels without wings , or other places where cheap propagandists like you meet to sell their BS to the gullible.

”Middle east standards of democracy , at least enough democratic for arab countries’ LOL. Here is another another brainless wannabe theorican coming with another BS argument…

If you can not carry a simple political l argument and revert with sentimental stupidities like ‘noone likes you’ , you are in a wrong thread , try matchmaking sites. I dont care what you like or not , nothing will change in my life if you like me or not, dont overestimate yourself and yr half assed comments and yr weird comparisons about ‘ democracy and arab countries’

Icarus Tanović

The punk is Wahhabi suporter of pseudo Islam. So, don’t waste your time with him.

Icarus Tanović

Supporters of Wahhabism, and Syria was/is real democracy.

HiaNd

and Syria was/is real democracy. I sincerely hope so … and Assad and Syria have my full support !

Sencer

Ranks 164th out of 167 countries on that list.

Very democratic man Assad is.

And excuses are many .. ” but but neo colonial west , arab standards of democracy, very modern man , very sovereign , etc etc”’

Jens Holm

More like forced majority rule.

Sencer

4 million syrians in TR , about 1 mio in EU , 3 mio in Idlib. All ran away from Assad. Almost half of the country fleed from Assad .

But hey , Assad is a democratic man , not inherited the country from his butcher father , he did not and still is not torturing his own people in prisons , still not bombing his OWN CITIZENS together with Russians, a foreign country. Very sovereign indeed.

Kohlhaas

I as a Turk can say that we are not an example for a good democracy. But you really think that Assad is democractically elected?? You are either too blind because of your hatred or you just don’t know history. Check your facts again please. Besides, you are making a “what about” argument which has no value at all in a discussion.

HiaNd

It’s your opinion.

Kohlhaas

This is why we have “reply” option… What is your point?

Sencer

”Assad is educated civilized man who fights for sovereignty of his country” LOL. Joke of the day.

Assad is a civilized and educated man who buys 30 mio oil paintings to his wife while his people fights with hunger and civli wars

Syria is a Russian oblast now with Iranian pockets of interest here and there. Your boyfriend Assad sold his country to save his own future. Touristic lands are being handed almost free of charge to russian business men , Syrian phosphate wealth being delivered to Yevgeny Prigozhin. Thats his sovereignty you are trying to sell here.

kamalashila

Waste of poor resources.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Or it’s possible the system actually belongs to units from the Russian backed SAA 5th army corps, syrialivemaps reported that some units from the 5th army corps were transferred to Libya straight after their recent split in ranks, so this may have been some of their equipment that was sent over with them. Most of the Arab League countries like the Saudis, Egypt, Jordan, UAE ect, have been supporting Assad’s right to govern in Syria since mid 2017, so they aren’t just switching sides lately, they’ve been on Assad’s side for nearly 3 years now, even if some of them were once Assad’s enemies [Saudis, Jordan], now they actually want to join forces with Assad to help fight against the Muslim Brotherhood.

Fog of War

” even if some of them were once Assad’s enemies [Saudis, Jordan], now they actually want to join forces with Assad to help fight against the Muslim Brotherhood. ” Sure, and as soon as their done they will all turn on Syria again.

Icarus Tanović

MB is just another Mi6 creation, and animosity to Wahhabi is just smoke screen. It is evidential.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

That applies to every nation in the world so who can you really trust, self interest and mutual self interests are what really drive world politics, the smart players either take advantage of the situation or they get used in the process. The Arab league don’t want Assad to implement resolution 2254 but Russia, Iran, Turkey, the US, and the UN all want him to, so the Arab league are the only ones not calling for political reforms in Syria, but Russia and Iran are, so it’s self interest before loyalty for all parties. Russia, Iran, and Turkey drew up and proposed resolution 2254 back in 2015, they went to the UN and made the proposal and it was accepted, find out exactly what they asked Assad to do in that resolution, and then you’ll find out why Assad refused to accept that traitorous piece of rubbish for nearly 5 years, but he did accept the UN’s proposal to amend the old Russian/Iranian/Turkish resolution with a new version, and Assad ACCEPTED IT THE VERY SAME DAY, 5 YEARS OF SAYING NO TO RUSSIA, IRAN, AND TURKEY AND ONLY ONE DAY TO SAY YES TO THE UN. If Assad acted the way you think he should he wouldn’t be doing trade deals with HTS either, and he’s doing heaps of deals with them, so why shouldn’t he do the same thing with the Arab League countries, especially when they have something in common with him, a mutual enemy.

Icarus Tanović

SF turned to gossip in last months. Syria doesn’t like either side, since Gaddafi is killed, but it has chosen least evil. I’m having bit enough of this kind of SF.

occupybacon

Improving the relations witth Egypt would be useless in your opinion? Syria has an embargo while Egypt is exempted of the oil embargo of Iran.

Icarus Tanović

That’s right, until Egypt becomes state that it was in Nassar time.

HiaNd

What are your thoughts on situation in Libya? Will Turks start the war against the Egypt?

<- Beware the Jew

Mehmet is a c*nt and erDOGan’s b!tch!

pasha

This is batshit. Why does Assad need a dog in the Libya fight? He has Pantsir systems to spare to send to Libya, and yet elsewhere we read “Iran To Help Syria With Air Defense To Repel US, Israeli Attacks”? Plus he’s already battling Turkey and Turkey-supported jihadis inside Syria. Does the word OVEREXTENDED mean anything to you, Mr. President?
