Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad warned on February 17 that the U.S. would not protect those depending on it, in a clear hint to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) which control northeastern Syria.
“We say to those groups who are betting on the Americans, the Americans will not protect you … The Americans will put you in their pockets so you can be tools in the barter, and they have started with (it),” the Syrian President said while he was welcoming the heads of local councils, according to Reuters.
Assad called on these US proxies to hand over their weapons to the army and join the reconciliation process while stressing that this is the only way to “retreat from mischief.”
“Nobody will protect you except your state … If you do not prepare yourselves to defend your country, you will be nothing but slaves to (Turkey),” he added.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw all U.S. troops from Syria revived Turkey’s plans to invade the northeastern part of the country. This forced the SDF to resume its talks with Damascus. However, the Kurdish-dominated group made very high demands, such as maintaining its independent military force.
Assad’s warning may indicate that a deal between his government and the SDF has been still not reached. Despite this, he appears to be confident that the U.S. will eventually carry on with the withdrawal decision.
Kurds have failed to learn their lesson time and time again, expect their stupidity to trump what little reality they have left when the Crunch comes. SAA will probably have to inflict a defeat or two on them before they truly realise the truth of President Assad’s words.
CENTCOM knows the Kurds are returning to Syrian state control. The usual tactic at this point is to start training and equipping Kurdish terrorist sleeper cells to maintain an endless low-intensity conflict inside Syria against the SAA (but not against any Kurds). The Syrian PKK. That and the usual brainwashing propaganda inside Kurdish areas to keep the US State Department’s ‘dream of a Kurdish State’ alive. Plus, there will always be plenty of friendly Kurd assets that can shelter ISIS, spy for the US and Israel and smuggle stuff in and out of northeast Syria for them.
Just because the US lost possession of northeast Syria for now, there’s no reason it can’t still be used to bleed the Syrian people for years to come. The unfortunate Syrian Kurds will suffer too – under their tyrannical leadership the US installed and Stazi-like party police that protect them. Should be a real paradise in a few years (being facetious, here). And all the while, they’ll blame the squalor and misery of their little Kurdish enclave on Assad – not the US. Repeats like a broken record – you think someone would learn by now.

When you read the Wikipedia article about Kurds, it’s completely one sided. It talks about all of the persecution that the Kurds were allegedly subjected to. But says nothing about any wrong that they may have done that made them the targets of persecution.
