Clashes reignited between the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Aleppo on January 28, with both sides taking casualties.
The clashes broke out following an alleged Turkish drone strike on a market in the SDF-hedl town of Sarrin that claimed the lives of some 13 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Four of the casualties were said to be children.
The deadly incident was followed by Turkish artillery strikes on a convoy of pro-SDF protestors who were heading towards Tishreen Dam on the Euphrates River, which has been the focal point of the clashes between the SNA and Kurdish forces. No casualties were reported however.
Responding to the strikes, the SDF shelled on January 29 SNA posts close to the town of Emo near the Karakozak Bridge, which is also located on the Euphrates, killing four Turkish backed fighters. Later, the group shelled another post in the town of al-Hawsharyiah, killing six more SNA fighters.
Turkey launched more airstrikes against SDF posts in the eastern Aleppo countryside on January 29, targeting an airstrip near Sarrin and the vicinity of Tishreen Dam without causing any casualties.
It’s worth noting that in the days leading to the clashes the SDF stepped up its FPV drone strikes in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, damaging or destroying several pieces of equipment of the Turkish military, including two T-155 Fırtına self-propelled howitzers.
The confrontation in the eastern Aleppo countryside broke out following the collapse of the Assad regime last month. So far, more than 500 people have been killed with the SNA taking most of the losses.
The SDF, which is backed by the United States, has been engaged in talks with both Turkey and the transitional government in Damascus, which is led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham. However, the talks are yet to produce a result as the group appears to be determined to maintain its military autonomy even if it becomes part of the future Syrian military.
Recent reports suggest that the U.S. may be preparing more than 2,000 troops currently deployed in SDF-held territories in north and eastern Syria, including the eastern Aleppo countryside. Such a move could weaken the SDF to the point of collapse.

filthy turks terrorists and their despicable mercenaries cant win on the battlefield so they intentionally attack civilians
part i: don’t blame abstract ethnic patterns that leads you only to fascism. all we know is that nato, usa and usrael are about to grabbing land all over the world killing innocent civillians. and death don’t distinguish between a dead kurd baby or a turkish.
blame your fascism and following false leaders to complete their plot. you kurds and the turks are just pawns of the games. your destiny is to die for your kings… the zions.
part ii: where do you think sdf’s dubious weapons comes from? do they produce the weapons themselfes? what will they do in long term?
realising now? you are just placeholders and trigger goons for us/rael. nato and turkey are two sides of the same coin. sdf has choosen the wrong side and is now about to pay. your greatest sin is fascism like the turks’.
wtf are u talking about idiot, this is about intentionally attacking civilians (not fighters) and your response is… but jews bla bla bla. gtfo here fucking moron.

kurdio kurdio terrorist scumbag..go back to your cave . zip it
hard for u to accept that 400 filthy subhuman sna scumbags send to hell thus u attack civilians like a true coward
the kurds could have prevented this from happening if they fully aligned with the assad government and also resumed oil production from the oil fields and supply to the saa controlled areas the syrian economy would not have been starved as it was the past few years. because of the economic sabotage and the kurds doing what the usa wanted the syrian government was paralyzed and the turks took over all of syria togheter with the israelis.
personally i would choose assad over those jihadi scum any day but its not as simple as you describe it. assad left no room for kurds to have any form political or even cultural freedoms. hell, even hts is even willing to make more concessions than assad.
the western / israeli alliances have brought syria a troubled future to destroy the iranian government and seize control of the mineral wealth for profit, power and control. the russian oreshnik missile has the range to destroy tel-aviv. alliances count.
indeed there was strong foreign pressure for a regime change but the central government controlled an area with 75% of the syrian population so i have no idea why it really collapsed so suddenly🤔 although there were provocations since several years already and the reaction looked kind of naive🥶
