Six civilians have been killed and another 22 injured. There is only one policeman among the wounded.
It is reported that at least six people were killed and nearly two dozen injured when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-filled vehicle in Afghanistan’s Central-Eastern province of Parwan.
“We had been tipped off he was coming, he intended to target a police base, but when he found himself being chased by police, he detonated himself in an area close to a school and clinic,” provincial police chief Mohammad Zaman Mamozai said.
“Six civilians have been killed and another 22 injured. There is only one policeman among the wounded,” he added.
The governor of Seya Gerd district in the province, Sayed Sediqqi said that the incident took place at about 9.30 a.m. local time on Tuesday.
Nobody has claimed the responsibility for the attack but the Taliban are increasingly active in the remote mountainous area. Local officials said that the death toll could rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
However, the Taliban control more territory than at any point since 2001. Taliban also took a provincial capital, Kunduz, and are threatening another, Lashkar Gah in Helmand.
Since the war on terror began 14 years ago by the US and its allies, Afghanistan has been crippled by insecurity and terrorism which also has been taking numerous civilian lives.
