Late on November 8, a series of strikes targeted a fuel shipment near the al-Qa’im border crossing between Syria and Iraq.
The strikes hit a convoy of about 15 tankers that had crossed from Iraq into Syria near al-Qa’im. Members of paramilitary groups operating in the border area told the Associated Press that at least ten people, including Iranian nationals, were killed in the strikes. However, the Sabereen news channel on Telegram and other Iraqi sources said that as many as 25 people were killed.
Paramilitary groups backed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps operate on the Syrian and Iraqi sides of al-Qa’im border crossing.
The governments of Syria and Iraq are yet to officially comment on the strikes, or provide a detailed account of their results.
A senior United States official has already denied responsibility for the strikes in a statement to BBC journalist Nafiseh Kohnavard. The unnamed official said that the U.S. Central Command is currently investigating the attack which resulted in civilian casualties.
Meanwhile, Iraqi sources told the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV that Israel was behind the strikes on al-Qa’im crossing. According to the sources, several Israeli drones attacked the fuel shipment, destroying at least two tankers.
Israel attacked Iranian-backed forces on the Syrian-Iraqi border on several occasions over the last few years, but so did the U.S.
The origin of the target fuel shipment and its final destination remain unclear. Some speculate that this was an Iranian shipment meant for Hezbollah in Lebanon, where fuel prices have been on the rise. If confirmed, this will leave little doubt about Israel responsibility for the strikes.
Israel has been hunting down Iranian weapons shipments passing through Syrian en route to Hezbollah for nearly ten years now. Targeting a fuel shipment for the group would a first.

The trucks were carrying kerosene donated for Lebanon. All tanker trucks were private owned and drivers were civilians. RIP.
It is said that the attack was a revenge for the American killed in Baghdad, 600km away. If Iraq controlled its own airspace at least they had some information about what happened. Let’s see how the new Iraqi government reacts. A retaliation will be carried out, with Americans on the receiving end no matter who initiated the attack.
PS. Re. disappearing comments I tested this, one can upvote or downvote comments countless times if 1- Change the IP address or 2- Deletes cookies. With sufficient downvotes, after some time, a comment disappears. That’s the reason under some pages, we see just a few vile comments remain with maybe +6 upvotes, while under normal circumstances the same comments get tonnes of downvotes from individual readers. I couldn’t receive any response from SF support so I won’t bother with them..
How come the cowardly Iranian government has not even made a statement about this? Every day we hear someone here and there will “pay a price” but nobody pays a price except for the Iranian government, who is too slow, too corrupt, too cowardly to respond effectively in time as a deterrent, still begging for the JCPOA and making cheap statements without consequence. How is it that US steals Syrian oil and smuggles it into Iraq without consequences? How is it that these trucks were not protected by the IRGC knowing full well the possibility? Let’s face it the Iranian government is corrupt and cowardly, and they’re recent feeble admittance of supplying drones to Russia before the war was embarrassing. If they had balls and brains they would have nipped the story in the bud the first week it emerged instead of denying it and then admiring it. I heard Iranian nationals were killed in this strike and yet silence from them.
I don’t know, did they attack Iran directly? If yes and if they kept quiet after a day or two, then Iranian government is indeed, cowardly.
Nobody said anything about the promise of paying a price. Hitting American bases in Syria after an attack on the resistance forces -regardless of who’s the attacker- is a pattern right in front of everybody’s eyes for sometime. All we have to do is to wait a couple of days to see it or I spoke out of [not my mouth].
There’s a reason why the US government or military doesn’t provoke Iran like they do with other countries like China or even Russia. But if you want to conclude that it is a weakness sign for Iran, feel free and carry on please. I might even cheer you.
So they can continue murdering Iranians in Iraq and Syria so long as it’s not directly on Iranian soil?
Tell me, how many Americunts or Israelis are killed on Iraqi and Syrian soil by Iran?
Reports coming through that Iranians were killed in this attack, but don’t worry the brave Iranian government will at some point this year say someone will “pay a price” ROFL
The time of day makes a difference, later on the USA wakes up and later still Russia / Europe goes to sleep so the comments and votes vary according to who is about when the article appears. Some comments I’ve made seem to be deleted because they turn out to be factually incorrect or were just too boring or pacifist. It’s not difficult to make a website incidentally if you want something where you totally control the content.
Thank you for all the suggestions. The truth is, I’m too lazy for creating a website or blog for my pseudonym’s worthless thoughts and opinions. Maintaining a facade with my own name takes a lot of my times as it is.
But about the trolls, it was a couple of months long observation with multiple tests. I find it hard to swallow that SF moderates or fact checks every single comment or delete a comment because it’s boring when they don’t answer support emails. I think You got down-voted because your comment was pacifist or was contrary to a troll’s views. Haven’t you seen all the comment full of vulgar sexual suggestion or about the hind part of Jens or mentioning homo-globo-somthing-or-other? No comment even gets close to be as boring, yet these ones never get deleted.
I don’t expect you or anybody to accept what I wrote without hesitation, but I think it is nice if somebody at least puts a few minutes to test it before spending the same amount of time to write a reply and dismiss it.
PS. I’ll show you how it works with another comment under this one.
This is a test. Dear readers, please don’t upvote this comment.
I upvoted the above 10 times. I wrote this one using A@B.Com email. I’m the same and only wise and know-it-all Garga!
do you have a twitter account? I like your commentary
Thank you. I have some social accounts in which I like cat videos, post pics of my lunch and write about my feelings, annoyingly superficial and shallow.
Very well said, Garga. There are issues with the thought police of the Platform owners, I suspect.
South Front has a limited choice of platforms, and most them are American.
It’s good to see you again, Garga.
Hi. Thank you. It’s nice to see you too.
Additional information came, apparently only the first 2 of 22 tankers were hit. The rest aren’t damaged and thankfully none of the drivers were killed.
New information from who? Official reports that 5 tankers were completely burned. Others damaged. At least 15 people were killed.
But if bending the news means the cowardly Iranian government can get out of their bunkers then so be it lol
Dear Garga, Iran terror leaders now understand what is going to happen to them if they try to send weapons to terrorist Hezbollah. We blow and roast them like this. New information is many terrorists roasted and the convoy destroyed. If it was up to me we would have already blown Teheran. But I swear we will keep roasting your army until they withdraw. Let them try and retaliate, we will roast many more.
You love Bibi now, don’t you? My man!! :))
The largest refinery on the US west coast went up in a big boom a few hours after this attack. I don’t know what to make of it. Karma is certainly a bitc#.
Good news is, the Americans said it didn’t hurt one bit. I’m sure similar things won’t happen around you, because you’re so tough.
Learning about your wish to blow Tehran, I’m begging to suspect that you don’t like me anymore. I’m going to curl in my bed and cry now…
Still not a fan of Bibi because he is cosying up with Russia too much. I still like you but your leaders I think are scum and we are dealing with them as you can see. I don’t know about refinery elsewhere except the convoy we blow last night. If you want to day dream that a random fire is karma that’s your business my friend, but in Israel we don’t bring dreams we give Iran nightmares. Hope you wake up soon.
How could you do that to me? As if blowing Tehran wasn’t enough, now you plan to give me nightmares as well?
I can’t fathom how you are dealing with our scum leader by hitting a couple of Iraqi and Syrian trucks in another country? Maybe that’s just me and you in fact, are doing something serious. If the US west coast refinery is too far away that the news won’t reach you, I might be able to talk to Ms. Karma to arrange something nearer. Just ask, I’m always happy to help. Oh, and give Bibi some time, you’ll love what’s coming. A lot of people worked hard for his triumphant return. Take care habibi.
Again you dream my friend. Let me wake you. Iranian terror neutralised yesterday and you call them Iraqi and Syrian and choose random fire as revenge. We blow and you run. We keep blowing you until terror is no more and promised land is free. Greetings from Jerusalem capital of Israel.
pretty clearly not mysterious at all, israel US nato has gone in to a age of covered terrorist attacks. its not a new method but it seems like this is what they have left. the good will with the people of the world is gone so they have to compartmentalize as they do not have the broad consensus anymore, that for a few decades allowed them to get away with evil without gain.
Now with Bibi the Iranian go boom
ZOG strikes
Looking on infested side full of trolling stupids. AMEN
