This article originally appeared at Novosti translated by Stevo Marjanović exclusively for SouthFront

This morning there was a shooting in village Gorazdevac, near the city of Pec in Kosovo. Dalibor Jevtic, Minister of Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government, told Tanjug that the incident happened early this morning around 3 AM, and that two cars are damaged.

According to him, five shots from firearm were fired at the house of Petrovic family, and that a bullet was found in the bathroom of the house.

He said that attackers tried to burn the monument of war victims and Serbian children killed in a terrorist attack in 2003 and damaged it seriously. Also one car was set on fire.

Kosovo police will conduct the investigation.

JEVTIC: They tried to kill Serbs in Gorazdevac

Minister of Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtic said today that the attackers tried to kill Serbs.

After visiting the demolished monument to victims of the NATO bombing, Jevtic told reporters that what happened in Gorazdevac is an attempted murder, and not the case of intimidation.

“Use of armor-piercing shells is not an intimidation, someone tried to kill those people and send a clear message that they are not welcome here. We will be with them, and help them to overcome this difficult situation”, said Jevtic.
“Kosovo society should ask itself where is this violence leading us”, said Jevitc, adding that he asked the colleagues from the Kosovo government how would they feel if their seven year old child was woken up by the gunshots in the middle of the night.

RAKIC: Someone wants an ethnically pure Kosovo

Mayor of North Mitrovica, Goran Rakic, condemned this morning’s incident in Gorazdevac, stating that those who stand behind this attack want ethnically pure Kosovo.

Desecration of monuments, destruction of property and endangering the life of Serbs in Gorazdevac is a red alarm that indicates the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, said Rakic in his statement.

“Authorities must do everything to protect the lives of all citizens and as long as the perpetrators are free, there is danger such incidents will happen again”, said Rakic.

He also requested a response of the international community because of this and other incidents that occur in Kosovo, and which threaten to seriously destabilize the situation.
