Jaysh al-Islam began building several new military bases and camps in the northern Aleppo countryside, only four months after its withdrawal from the region of Eastern Ghouta under an agreement with the Damascus government, the Syrian news outlet Enab Baladi reported on August 5.

According to the pro-opposition news outlet, the fighters of Jaysh al-Islam are currently following a new religious course, which identifies Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG) as the key enemies of the group.

The pro-government news outlet al-Masdar News said that Jaysh al-Islam also began buying all kinds of weapons from smaller Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups in northern Syria in order to reestablish itself.

Jaysh al-Islam is infamous for being one of the wealthiest armed groups in Syria, as its leadership collected millions of USD through illegal taxes and activists. The groups is also accused of kidnapping, torturing and executing hundreds of civilians including opposition activists.

These new developments suggest that Jaysh al-Islam leadership is now planning to push its remaining fighters in any new armed conflict on the hopes of collecting more money, mainly from Turkey.

A rich American bought London Bridge and had it reassembled in Arizona. The buyer thought that he had bought the bridge in your pic, but that’s the Tower Bridge. This is London bridge, now in Arizona. https://cdn.citylab.com/media/img/citylab/legacy/2013/10/10/Screen%20Shot%202013-10-10%20at%2011.35.30%20AM.png

There’s a sucker born every minute.

Some good old FAB500 will put an end to this soon.

I’m wondering if those small FSA groups were trained then armed by Turkey before being sent into Syria and now are selling their weapons to raise funds for getting the hell out of there before the fighting starts?

Xanatos

Unlike jaysh al Islam, or HTS, the FSA are overwhelmingly Syrians instead of foreign fighters. They are dozens of local militias who are protecting their home towns. Some are anti regime rebels, others are merely deserters who didn’t want to be used as cannon fodder by incompetent SAA officers in the early years of the war, especially 2012.

These are the types of troops the government is willing to give amnesty programs if they turn over their weapons and surrender.

Jaysh al Islam and HTS have always been “taxing” these various SFA militias. Collecting money, food, and even conscripts – often by force. Many SFA militias have found life to be hell under rule of these terrorist armies, many are ready to lay down their arms.

Jaysh al Islam wants to get these weapons before they are turned over in any inevitable amnesty agreement.

Xanatos

I should add, the SAA has much better officers today.

Many of the incompetent officers have been dismissed . Several officers, including colonels, have turned out to be agents working for Israel. They would order SAA soldiers to advance into Rebel ambushes, and they would order the SAA to retreat when the rebels were losing.

Over the years, Assad has reshuffled his commanders , promoting ability over family connection, and watching over decisions more carefully for suspicious loyalties.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

i hope all those traitorous officers are dead

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

its possible

Excellent! Those bases will make for convenient targeting by the RuAF and SyAF.

That’s an interesting building style, thousands of years old, with some modern upgrades. I have 40 acres of mountain top property paid for that is mostly stone covered ground, the same size as what’s in the pictures, where I could do the same thing.

John Whitehot

I can already see the fragmentation effect those stones will have on ragheads when air dropped bombs will begin shattering them.

TS

The can be minimized with double wall construction, 15 cm air gap.

John Whitehot

we’ll see.

You see stone fences around here. The early settlers built fences with the rock they cleared from their paddocks. Whilst wood and wire fences rot and burn, the old stone fences keep on keeping on.

Gregory Casey

Where I live in the far SW of Ireland overlooking and facing the N Atlantic, I am surrounded by old stone ditches and fences that have stood for many hundreds of years providing shelter against the worst that N Atlantic Weather can throw against us. They are perfect for close-up defence & fighting but form the basis for death & destruction if struck by missiles or aerial bombardment with shards of stone to fly in all direction and piercing the heads and hearts of anyone close by. I take the view that a few bombs dropped from a great height will see the end of these idiots ……… dangerous and all as they are!

Sinbad2

Very true, but even wood is dangerous. If a man hides behind a tree, and you but a large calibre round into the front of the tree, shards of wood as sharp as knives will come flying out the back of the tree. The front of the tree looks like nothing happened. As for stone, if an explosive round got into the building, the concussion would kill you, but light arms would probably not penetrate. It’s war, if they can kill you, they will.

Sinbad2

Some will say that letting the terrorists go has caused this, and it has, but the true nature of war is to bankrupt your opponent. The Saudis will be paying for the construction, and rearming of the terrorists, and the money will come from Saudi accounts in the USA.

The real enemy of mankind is the USA, and getting into a gunfight with them will get you killed. So make them drain their coffers and when they can no longer afford to fight, that’s the time to finish them off.

All wars are about money.

Su-24’s , Su-25’s and Kalibr missiles are like : “ come on dudes , build it faster … we want to visit u for some quick SightSeeing “ ))))))

How can they be a “Military” BASES, in what military are those Jihadi Terrorist belong so they can be called that they are building MILITARY BASES. I mean why SF bothers to say it like that. They are Al-Qaeda Terrorists who are building some dungeons, stones and cement though. What Military will be stationed there. Yes Al-Qaeda Military of course.
