Azerbaijan Officially Declares Push For 'Military Solution' Of Karabakh Question

Click to see the full-size image

On October 4, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev claimed that Azerbaijani forces are “chasing” Armenians like “dogs” and demanded the full withdrawal of Armenian forces, the Armenian recognition of Karabakh as a sovereign Azerbaijani territory and the official apology from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to the Azerbaijani nation.

On top of this, Aliyev emphasized that a military solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh question is on the table and criticized 28 years of unsuccessful negotiations.

“I have heard a lot that the conflict has no military solution. Firstly, I do not agree with this. Secondly, if there is no military path, then give us a non-military path, a diplomatic path. Implement the UN Security Council resolutions,” Aliyev said in an interview with Al Arabiya. “If international the community cannot ensure the implementation of international resolutions, Azerbaijan will do it itself, this is happening now “

In his remarks, Aliyev apparently cosplayed Turkish neo-Ottomanist President Recent Tayyip Erdogan that over the past years has become used to employ the rhetoric of this kind and provide a hard power-based realpolitik in the Greater Middle East. Turkey is the natural strategic ally of Azerbaijan and extensively backs it in its war with Armenia.

At the same time, the so-called international community, led by Washington (the ‘best friend’ of the current Armenian government) does nothing to stop the war. This demonstrates that the rhetoric about the democracy, freedom and human rights is no more than a blatant propaganda used by Western powers to justify the aggression in their own interests. And when the violation of ‘human rights’ and the violence go in their interests (like the destabilization of the South Caucasus), they are happy to turn a blind eye on such developments. In these lights, the Russian peace enforcement operation in South Ossetia in 2008 in response to the military aggression by the Saakashvily regime or the decision to return Crimea amid the emerging civil war in Ukraine look like bright examples of humanism and justice.

Aliyev cosplayed Erdogan, that was funny :)

You are right, bacon is much better than kosher

Great Khan

American fat look like pig and eat big and smell pig.

Vox Populi

That is not the true picture. Armenian aggression and atrocities against the Muslim Azeris created this conflict. There was massive ethnic cleansing and genocide in NK in 90’s and Turkey being a strong Muslim power was forced to intercede and assist Azerbaijan. Armenian arrogance and ignorance is to blame. This war will not end well for Armenia as it has alienated even a weak Russia.

I think you play too much on religion card

Putin Apologist

From the West’s point of view the “Velvet Revolution” that swept Pashinyan into power was supposed to bring about many changes to Armenia’s policies that the West wanted:

(1) Armenia has to “apology” for defending its people and its historical lands.

(2) Armenia has to surrender the ancient Armenians lands in the Republic of Artsakh.

(3) Armenia has to end its long relationship with Russia and look towards the EU and NATO.

(4) Armenia has to follow all of Washington’s dictates, including, “stop trading with Iran”.

It’s all right there in this BBC interview of Nikol Pashinyan from last August.

https://youtu.be/d-mzKtQbwbM

Vox Populi

The situation is more complex. Armenian occupation of NK was untenable and internationally illegal and its resolution was a matter of national pride for Azerbaijan. Russia was pleased with Armenian policies and secondly and most importantly is too weak and fragmented to challenge NATO and Israeli coalition as it is already being cornered from Ukraine to Belarus and its glaring failure in Syria emboldened Turkey which is key NATO military power and not shy about using its military to advance political and geo-strategic agenda. With a large Sunni Muslim population and soft power, Turkey is in far stronger position than Russia and Erdogan’s bid for Islamist leadership has borne fruit. Russia will need to placate Turkey even further or its own Muslim region’s will be vulnerable.

SevenMoons

Well said. But Turkey is not doing this for NATO. It wants to insert leadership in Muslim world. This has worked. Saudi Arab is just a puppet of USA. It can’t lead anything. The Yemen war has been a disaster.

The Armenian occupation of N-K and other part of Azerbaijan has been illegal and very unpopular in global community. It has no support from any country.

Vox Populi

Turkey has far wider appeal than any Muslim nation and that is unsettling th eZionist regime as well as their attack on Turkey today shows. I foresee a Turkish and Iranian alliance in the long run.

Israel Defense Minister Benny Gantz has said Turkey’s actions “pushes away from stability” in the region and argued “international pressure” must be used to “make sure they are pulling their hands from direct terrorism.”

Great Khan

Jew bitch knife in back. Make kishmish soon.

Jimmy Jim

GAS IS THE ANSWER!

paolinks

Unsettling? Until yesterday all turkish troll around the web were praising Israel, “our jewish brothers” and this and that.

Now you lot are revolting against the backstabbing zios!! Oh my, it is true that God will make them mad before the Apocalypse.

The Objective

“I foresee a Turkish and Iranian alliance in the long run” I agree with all you said but this. Turkey will never get into an alliance with Iran. doing so will alienate Turkey from the rest of the Sunni Muslim world. When five countries, Qatar, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan agreed to hold a Meeting in Malaysia in Dec. 2019 to discuss the problems of the Muslim world, they did not include Iran even though Iran would like to be included. Iran is a very dangerous country for the Sunni Muslim world – even more dangerous than Israel. Christians and other non-Muslims will not understand this, but it’s a well known fact among Sunni scholars worldwide – Erdogan included. Turkey will maintain a friendly relationship with Iran, but not military alliance. Iran is working actively with Russia to prevent the formation of a Muslim military Alliance comprising Turkey and many others in the former Soviet Republics.

Nenad Vojinovic

Invasion on Cyprus and occupation of around 30% of a country is not recognized either and it’s even more unpopular in global community.

Putin Apologist

I’m not sure what you mean when say “Russia… is too weak and fragmented to challenge NATO”. Russia has been challenging NATO, and doing so successfully, since August 8, 2008. See Georgia, Crimea, Ukraine and Syria.

As for Turkey being “a key NATO military power…”Erdogan’s Turkey is viewed by most NATO members as more of a dangerous and loose cannon, with grandiose ambitions of recreating an Ottoman empire, than as a “key” member of NATO.

And “Erdogan’s bid for Islamist leadership has borne fruit.” Where? With whom? Certainly not with the Arabs (okay maybe the Qataris), and not the with Persians. Even that brain-dead dictator, Aliyev only wants his help to steal Armenian lands. Trust me the Azeris want to play no part in Erdogan’s stillborn Ottoman fantasy.

Vox Populi

Turkish soft power in the form of culture and Ottoman soap operas are popular from Pakistan to Indonesia. In the wider Arab world Turkey is far more influential than any other Muslim state. I see Turkish and Iranian interest converging quite rapidly. Russia has immense problems with its minorities and in financial dire straits. Putin is under siege as NATO wall encroaches. The west in general will always support Turkey as a key ally, largely due to the dint of its size and historical importance. Russians have never been accepted by the west.

cechas vodobenikov

u ignorant idiot–Russian economy reserves—zero extreme poverty; zero minority unrest in Russia’ turkis rapidly declining economy indebted, lire declined 25 % in last 2 months—60 million in poverty and struggling with PKK, YPG Russia does want amerikan decadence –your LGBT plywood villages “putrefaction”. Heidegger while US economy 27 trillion $ debt, contracted economy 30%, Russian economy to expand 3 % 2021 Russia enjoys positive balance of trade with all nations…Turkey has stupidly alienated Russian tourists that accounted for 5 billion USD in tourism prior to the Erdogan stupidity

The Objective

Russia’s economy is in deep shit as well. They are heavily sanctioned and have very few weapons deals as of recent. Their oil project is going to stop and more sanctions are in the pipeline, especially if Biden wins. Turkey may be having economic challenges right now, but Russia is no better.

The Objective

Turkey and Erdogan is highly popular even in the Arab world. The reason you don’t know is because of the unfriendly regimes in these countries. Trump rightly said that the Saudi regime will not survive for 2 weeks without American military protection. The same thing applies to the rest of the monarchies that’s why they are so paranoid of the MB. So how would a people who dislike their regimes then back those regimes in opposing Turkey or Erdogan? Don’t forget that Erdogan is the ONLY Muslim leader of a country that has the Qur’an committed to memory. This alone is enough to make him Trump the spoiled likes of MBS or MBZ or whomever.

Nenad Vojinovic

Turkish soap operas are soft power! LOL! In my country Turkish soap operas are shown on TV but vast majority of population learn German and English instead especially in their legal attempts to leave the country for good. There are a lot of Turks in EU too.

Jimmy Jim

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk_6mxdTtQk

The Objective

Erdogan named the most popular Muslim leader in the world. He is first at the top followed by the King of Saudi Arabia. This was in February 2020 – before he converted Hagia Sophia to a mosque. His popularity has soured even more since then. “The annual popularity index of world political leaders was released by Gallup International on Thursday”

https://nation.com.pk/14-Feb-2020/erdogan-named-most-popular-muslim-leader So yes, Erdogan’s effort is bearing fruit. Now why would a majority of the World’s Muslims prefer Erdogan? There must be something about him that make Muslims rally behind him. We’ll continue to defend him from badmouths like you anywhere.

Putin Apologist

FYI: 30% is not “a majority”. 50% plus 1 that would be a majority.

The Objective

Of all the Muslim leaders, he emerged the most favored. What are you trying to twist here? That he is not the most popular Muslim leader in the world?

Putin Apologist

Well, simple mathematics should tell you that if only 30% of Muslims favor Erdogan that means 70%, a majority, doesn’t.

The Objective

Where did that poll take place? In my country, many are uneducated but love Turkey so 70% is an over-hyped number. The Arabs have lost respect of Muslims due to their leaders and the leadership of Islam is no longer with them. The world’s Muslim scholars are far more in Support of Erdogan than Saudi Arabia. And whoever those scholar support, that is the person Muslims will support.

You also conveniently overlook the fact that he came out top among all other leaders. It even got better after Hagia Sophia.

Erdogan is indisputably a leader almost every Sunni Muslim will support because he is the only one to memorize the Quran among all Muslim leaders, and the only one with the guts to stand up to the West. If his actions ignite a war with the Christian world, that’ll be even better cos a lot of Muslims will wake up to the present danger and this will mean the end of Christian dominance of our lands. I do hope Christians attack the Muslim world to start this war. People like Sisi, MBS, and MBZ will be forced to side with Muslims or lose the loyalty of their armed forces and the people.

One reason why Erdogan gets away with provoking Europe is that the Europeans don’t want to ignite any war that topples their puppets in the Muslim world.

Nenad Vojinovic

If war erupts with Christians does it mean EU should expel all the Turks from EU especially adherents of AKP party and finally close the border between EU (Greece and Bulgaria) and Turkey?

The Objective

That’ll be even better. EU can never help ANY Muslim country. The earlier we realize this the better for Muslims. We have to try and disintegrate our economies from their, and cooperate with more friendly Asian countries instead. That way, they have next to zero leverage over us. I can see Erdogan moving in that direction already. With the many new non-European free trade agreements and his efforts to create new markets in Muslim countries and Asia, things will be a lot different in a decade or two. Just like Turkey is making significant progress in defense manufacturing, so will it make progress in economic independence. Europe can NEVER help a Muslim country, and Erdogan knows that.

Great Khan

Great Khan like.

cechas vodobenikov

idiot—NATO did zero in Georgia, Ukraine’s Donbass or Crimea Pridestrovia—impotent

SevenMoons

What NATO gotta have to do with them???

The Objective

Russia’s effort is largely to prevent the emergence of an Islamic alliance stretching from Turkey to Kashmir.

SevenMoons

1. N-K was not even old Armenia. It was the old Albania. 2. Not only Armenians occupy N-K, but it also controls the surround provinces of Azerbaijan. It won’t return them to Azerbaijan. This is never justified. 3. All the Azeris in those territories were expelled. This is ethnic cleasing. It is against international laws.

This is modern civilized era, not the medieval era. You just can’t do what you did the above.

Putin Apologist

The Armenian have lived and died on these lands for thousands of years. If you think not, then please explain this fourth century Armenian Christian monastery located in Nagorno-Karabakh.

https://youtu.be/zvsgYELrTkg

Vox Populi

Why is Europe’s largest mosque located in Russia as I have previously said? does that mean Turkey which paid for it should take over Moscow? that is not logical. This is not a religious conflict, but geo-strategic.

Putin Apologist

I think you’re missing the point; This centuries years Armenian Christian monastery (the historical record) tells us that the Armenians were living in Nagorno-Karabakh long (nearly two millennia) before Joseph Stalin gave the region to the Azeris less than a hundred years ago.

Vox Populi

My point is that all the Caucasus and Russia itself is mixed ethnically and on religion and the roots of this conflict are ethnic in nature and not religious. Armenia itself was under Muslim occupation for centuries and then forced them out and committed ethnic genocide. Now the tables have turned and that is irreversible as Islam is now the world’s largest religion in real terms. As most so-called “Christian” nations are secular in reality.

Putin Apologist

Agreed, the Armenians were once forced to live “Under the Yoke” of the Ottomans and then the Turks tried to genocide them … and their never going back.

Vox Populi

All history aside, Armenia will lose this conflict and no one lift a finger.

Putin Apologist

Sure, just like “no one lift[ed] a finger” in Syria.

Great Khan

Huh, Russia sit in tent and Erddogan Khan control Idlib. Putin hide from virus and drink vodka to cure.

cechas vodobenikov

durak understands nichy vo—turkis have been removed form 88% of Syrian territory by Russia, Syria, Iran—any turkis drone airplane that violates Syrian airspace is obliterated

Nenad Vojinovic

Why most of the Turks abroad don’t find their luck in predominantly Muslim countries? Why do they go to “so called Christian countries” like Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway? Why?

Fog of War

” does that mean Turkey which paid for it should take over Moscow ”

That’s a Turkish investment. They know what the demographic future holds if things dont change.

Leonardo Russo

Turkish dogs were exterminated in the balkans, caucasus and Crimea, we the West protected you not to be exterminated in Anatolia, you should be more grateful!!!

SevenMoons

No. As we have seen. How many conflicts have started after the end of WW I? So many nations and so many conflicts.

If Ottoman was left alone, there would not even be the so called Armenian “Genocide”. Whatever it was.

The “world powers” dismantled Ottoman Empire. Then all the former states are warring each other. Kosovo, Greece/Turkey, Cyprus, Israel/Palestine, Kurds, and a lot more. The great power left Turkey with little territory. So Turkey turned to Armenians and drove them out. Blame the great powers, not the Turks…

Nationalism, sure. Good or bad? Not sure. But a lot wars happened after Ottoman Empire was gone.

cechas vodobenikov

Great Khan

paolinks

Greeks lost it. Armenians were robbed of NK by Stalin, the fucking soviet dictator!!!

This “international community” has double and triple standards, I see. They always say they don’t recognize dictators, but they recognize Stalin’s doing in NK and Krushev’s doing in Crimea! Heck!

Fog of War

What about the ancient Serb monasteries in Kosovo ?

Vox Populi

Ancient history is irrelevant and Serbia was part of the Ottoman empire for centuries itself. This is not a religious conflict as Israeli support for Muslim Azerbaijan has shown.

Nenad Vojinovic

It’s about Turkish hypocrisy. Turkey supports Azerbaijan to take back Nagorno Karabakh recalling to international law while at the same time it holds its military presence in Cyprus illegally, occupies portion of Syria and on top of it recognized independence of Serbian breakaway province of Kosovo.

Putin Apologist

Yes, Kosovo will be retuned to the Serbs too.

Nenad Vojinovic

They are Serbian. There is no trace of Albanian presence in Kosovo. There is no single monument related to Albanians. Monuments and worship temples are either Serbian and Turkish due to Ottoman conquest of the Balkans.

Fog of War

I agree with you.

SevenMoons

Fake….

SevenMoons

Pretty funny article. But he is wrong for most of the things.

There is no “human right” violation and there is no destabilization of South Caucasus. This is the return to status quo. No world power would get involved.

So the world has pretty much determined, the military actions from Azerbaijan is justified. This is a very strong statement. Even Russia agrees. Russia does not want to get involved in N-K.

There is pressure from the Armenian diaspora in all those countries. But the occupation of Azerbaijan outside the N-K has hugely unpopular. It turned Armenia from victim to aggressors. The world hate aggressors.

There is only one way to achieve peace. Armenians have to pull out its forces. N-K will stay within Azerbaijan. All the Azeri territory will be returned to Azerbaijan.

Over the years, Armenia had many opportunities to negotiate to favorable terms. It could even be possible to merge N-K with Armenia and return all other occupied Azeri land to Azerbaijan. But Armenian leadership fumble the ball. The opportunity has been lost. This is huge. Now Azerbaijan won’t even want to let N-K go away….

The dream of Great Armenia just evaporated.

Peter Jennings

Perhaps President Aliyev should keep one eye on the Turkish admin and their transport of islamic terrorists into the country. Perhaps Erdogan considers Azerbaijan to be a perfect place for them now that Syria, with much Russian help, has spoiled that party.

Time is running out for US/nato/Turkish backed terrorists in Syria and Iraq, and Libya for that matter. They have got to go somewhere but are not welcome in the country of their sponsors.

Erdogan could sit back and wait for Azerbaijan and Armenia to punch themselves out and then take over both countries. From that position the Turkish admin could be well poised to attack Iran. Maybe this is wild speculation, but the present Turkish admin seem to have no problem attacking their neighbours for any old reason.

Vox Populi

The illegal occupation of NK by an arrogant Armenia resulted in this conflict which Armenia is guaranteed to lose.

SevenMoons

The above map is so colorful now. More colors will be added.

Vox Populi

Armenia will face certain defeat as its anti-Muslim rhetoric and actions have alienated all.

SevenMoons

Not sure if this is anti-Muslim. It is more on occupation of foreign land and ethnic cleasing. This has no support of civilized society.

Vox Populi

Armenians are painting it as such though. That has alienated Iran even. The conflict is mostly due to Armenian occupation of NK which was illegal and resulted in massive ethnic cleansing with a million Azeris displaced. It is also about oil and gas pipelines. Turkey is a strong NATO power and is just advancing its own interests.

SevenMoons

Armenia is dreaming of becoming a NATO state. But I do not see this ever going to happen. Armenia is totally locked from all sides. Its large NATO partner is hostile Turkey. It is a huge liability to take Armenia as a NATO members. There is no benefits of doing so to NATO.

Jihadi Colin

What happens to a regime at war? Until and unless a thorough and crushing defeat is sustained, and not always even then (look at India’s Nehru regime in 1962 or at the Yeltsinite regime after the First Chechen War) what happens is an immediate upsurge of public support for the regime. This is something governments have taken advantage of over and over through history, to distract attention from domestic troubles. I don’t see how the Pashinyan regime is any different. By the way, Armenia is still officially a CSTO ally of Russia, Pashinyan or not.

SevenMoons

I read the article on the 2005 negotiation. Azerbaijan almost agreed to the N-K referendum. But it asked for the withdrawal from other occupied Azeri territory. And Azerbaijan asked for the return of all N-K Azeris to their land and home in N-K. That was refused by Armenia. Armenia asked for N-K independence before withdrawal from other Azeri territory. And Armenia refused return of refugees to N-K outright.

That was a missed golden opportunity for N-K and Armenia. Stupid Armenians. They are so greedy.

Now they get really nothing. Azerbaijan is in no position to give N-K a referendum from the N-K population alone. They sure can have a referendum from the population of entire Azerbaijan.

SevenMoons

Read…

The Armenian side considers that delaying resolution of the conflict works to its advantage because it believes statehood will eventually become a fait accompli. Nagorno-Karabakh de facto authorities argue they are fast meeting all the preconditions of statehood.104 New mono-ethnic institutions exist, and privatisation of land and business has been carried out, institutionalising the dispossession of Azerbaijanis’ rights. Looking at the Kosovo experience, Armenia considers that “international tendencies are moving towards reinforcing the right to self-determination. The longer Nagorno-Karabakh maintains its de-facto independence, the harder it will be to reverse the wheel of history”.

Azerbaijan also believes time is on its side as it consolidates its economic potential and amasses oil revenues. The ongoing increases in defence expenditures are largely based on money from the new Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan pipeline. Azerbaijan continues to work with Georgia in regional development projects — oil and gas pipelines, a possible new railway — that deepen Armenia’s isolation. Baku believes it will become increasingly strong in the region and Western investors and states reliant upon it. As Ilham Aliyev stated in 2004, “we are not in a rush. We have the truth on our side; we have time on our side; we have international justice on our side”.

SevenMoons

Clearly Armenia and N-K mis-calculated. They thought the great powers would be there to help them to achieve Greater Armenia. But it is the trap laid by Turkey. This is a disaster for Armenia and N-K Armenians….

Παραπολιτικός Τηλέτυπος

Time is certainly not on Azerbaijan side. The only thing Armenia had to do to ensure its right is arm those Nuclear cable missiles with nuclear warheads, manufactured from the enriched material they already have. Plus, if Azerbaijan delayed its again ill fated adventure, in 2-3 years it would have Been Armenia that could reach every part of Azerbaijan with drones and smart weapons .All those systems have been developed or planned since 2017. unfortunately for Armenians the current leaderships prioritized its political advancement and creating frictions with Russia.

SevenMoons

So funny. Russia will kill Armenia is it ever wants to develop nuke. Russia wont’ allow it. International community won’t allow that.

Time is running out for N-K….

Παραπολιτικός Τηλέτυπος

Of course it will allow it. That’s why they gave them Nuclear capable missiles in the first place. They have the carriers, they have the material, the device is the easier part.

SevenMoons

Whatever. Armenia gets Armenians killed…

Mustafa Mehmet

Greek mentality

Maintenance of Nuclear weapons is not cheap. Armenia doesn’t have 2-3billion USD to spend every year. Plus the Nuclear Plant along with fuel is managed by Russia. Armenia gets nukes, Russia gets blamed. Russia will be the first to stop it.

Read more. Azerbaijan almost agreed to trade N-K for the Meghri corridor along Iran border. That would be a really bad deal for Azerbaijan.

In 1999 the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia appeared to reach an agreement on a territory swap. In exchange for acquiescing to the transfer of Nagorno-Karabakh’s sovereignty to Armenia, Azerbaijan would gain Armenia’s strategic Meghri region and thus a land link with the isolated entity of Nakhichevan and Turkey. This met stiff resistance in Azerbaijan as well as Armenia. A modified version was then presented during the Paris and Key West talks. Azerbaijan was offered “sovereign corridors” linking it with Nakhichevan through Meghri in exchange for Nagorno-Karabakh. President Heydar Aliyev considered this, though it is unclear whether he accepted. Upon return to Azerbaijan he denied having approved transferring sovereignty over Nagorno- Karabakh. As recently as 2002 the unification option was on the table; Azerbaijan has been categorically opposed since Ilham Aliyev came to power the next year.

More. Armenian forces just refused any military withdraw before its “status” is resolved. They refused. They can’t agree now. It is too late. Due to this, N-K is internationally recognized as illegal occupation. No countries will come to the aid of N-K. They refused to withdraw and refused the return of refugees.

Nagorno-Karabakh forces backed by Armenia could begin withdrawing from occupied territories adjacent to the entity. In exchange, Armenia could secure from Azerbaijan a commitment not to use force and international security guarantees for the population of Nagorno- Karabakh. Determination of the ultimate status of Nagorno-Karabakh could be decided at a vague later date, possibly via a mechanism specified in a peace agreement.

This would give Nagorno-Karabakh an internationally recognised interim status maintaining many of the current practices and institutions, which would no longer be considered “illegal” as infringing on Azerbaijan’s sovereignty. Residents would be allowed to elect representatives in internationally supervised elections. Institution building would continue. The Defence Army would be transformed into a national guard. Trade and the collection of custom duties would be opened up. Donors could implement programs and internationally recognised travel documents could be issued.

Nenad Vojinovic

Armenia could secure from Azerbaijan a commitment not to use force and international security guarantees for the population of Nagorno- Karabakh. Tell me are you serious? There is no single chance that Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh will be left alone in possible Azerbaijani control of the territory. When bombardment of Serbia was finished the rest of the Serbs in mixed communities fled. Those who were thinking they’ve done nothing and stayed instead were killed. Take off those pink glasses! Couple years ago Azerbaijani soldier slaughtered his Armenian counterpart on a military drill in Hungary. He was awarded a medal by Ilham Aliyev.

Wizzy

If Azerbaijan had occupied Armenian land, the world would react in a totally different way. Even then, there is still significant support for Armenia’s illegal occupation of Azeri land which is unfathomable. The only negotiation that bears fruits for the Armenians is a semi-autonomous status for N-K within Azerbaijan with the guaranteed protection of the ethnic Armenians living there. The Azeri will take that deal any day.

Sauron

It will be hard to stop Aliyev unless anything substantial is offered. He is in the position of strength, international law, and certain amount of international political backing he didn’t have before. Plus and most important, the ongoing successes boost his domestic approval ratings. Basically not much to lose.

paolinks

international backing? the turkish sultan? because Turkey is the only one explicitly supporting him

every other country, wants the sultan out of the Caucasus

Sauron

yeah but in the face of neutrality of others, that and few other countries support makes the international position skewed towards Azerbaijan.

Whacko

In my opinion, the President of the de facto Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, should surrender to Azerbaijan and ask for autonomy under them.

Random Dude

rumor is he is dead since 2 days ago. cuz he went to the line of contact few days ago, and HQ where he visited got shelled right when he arrived. But those news are not officially confirmed. Only fact is that he has not appeared publicly for last 2 days

Whacko

The President of the de facto Arts Republic, Arayik Harutyunyan, made a big mistake. He thinks being on the front lines can give moral support to his troops.

Lazy Gamer

They have to use everything that they have, including raising the spirits of those who will die. If he deems it that he is more useful on the front line than on the rear, then that means, things are desperate. He did his job description with his life on the line. Anyway, im sure Artsakh has a commander who will easily succeed in the position if the worst happens.

Doom Sternz

Azerbaijan is in bed with the rules based order and they too will be destroyed. Hopefully a country worth fighting for will rise from the ashes.

These acts of aggression by Azerbaijan are what the ICC calls the Supreme International Crime. These are war crimes but again the guilty will not be held to account. The rules based order that they now refer to is lawlessness.

Whacko

Nagorno-Karabakh is not recognized as a sovereign state by any country on earth including Armenia.

Doom Sternz

These acts of aggression by Azerbaijan are what the ICC calls the Supreme International Crime. These are war crimes and in doing so Azerbaijan has sealed its fate.

The world now clearly understand who you are.

Whacko

Nargono-Karbakh is not a sovereign state that can sue Azerbaijan based on the Crimes of Aggression.

Random Dude

Armenia started shelling Azerbaijani strategic structures out of desperation. So far Barak8s have been intercepting the missiles. Even Skud was used on Oil&Gas near Baku, but fell short in the desert, so Iron Dome ignored it, as it is a ballistic missile.

Ashok Varma

Armenia is the aggressor in this war certainly and its actions should be rightly condemned. Only a complete withdrawal from illegally occupied Azerbaijan territories and return of refugees will bring peace. India has called for a return of Nogorno-Karabakh followed by ceasefire and peace.

Random Dude

Your contribution in the development of Barak-8 is much appreciated.

Romeo Pesiao

I don’t agree you. This is a premeditated attack initiated by Azerbaijan and Turkey.

cechas vodobenikov

international law is a bad joke–violated by amerikans every day–none of the immoral CIA automatons complained when USA illegally bombed Serbia and stole Kosovo or when Turkey illegally occupied Cyprus…I could care less about fake international lawlessness the azeri-turkis cannot conquer an IKEA super market; they will be defeated in the Arteshk mountains

Mustafa Mehmet

Who gives a s*** what you think voodoo

Jihadi Colin

You do, obviously, since you responded to him.

Doom Sternz

The rules based order that they now refer to is lawlessness……………We live in lawless times.

Ivan Freely

Actually, the “Rules-Based-Order” is another way of saying US made rules and order.

Ashok Varma

US has initiated almost all conflicts since 1900’s and previously a genocide of native people and Hispanic populations in wars against Spain and Cuba.

Jihadi Colin

They won’t be defeated in the mountains because they’ll bypass the Nagorno and go through the Karabakh into the surrounding districts and cut the mountains off. The Ottomans aren’t fools. They are in this to win. If they’re to be stopped only Russian intervention can do it.

Romeo Pesiao

The first week of battle in NK is hard to conclude which sides is in the advantaged position,. Because every side were equipped with propaganda machine. However if Putin, Macron and Trump will initiate a move to punish the aggressor (Azerbaijan and Turkey) then the conclusion is obvious.

Doom Sternz

Hopefully a country worth fighting for will rise from the ashes of Azerbaiijan. The world now clearly understand who Azerbaijan is.

Arman Melkonyan

True.

Americans manipulated and betrayed Armenians again.

America is a bunch of brainwashed idiots ruled by Freemasons who organized and committed the Armenian genocide along with their Donmeh Jewish and Turkish brothers.

Let’s close down that CIA Intelligence spy nest in Armenia and convert it into a hospital where Armenian casualties of the Karabagh terror campaign led by the Americans and their Turkish allies, can be treated.

Americans,

You are a disgrace to the human race.

What documentary evidence is there that would show that the jewish lobby took that position at that time? And furthermore, written documents about their influence to the Turkish govt.

Greek and Armenian filthy Cockroaches

James Adams

DEATH TO AZERBAIJAN !!!

Mustafa Mehmet

why. Because they want there lands back. you can go and jump

Arman Melkonyan

Because you Turkish psychopaths want to commit genocide on the Armenians like you did in Sumgait, Baku (1988-90) and Asia Minor in 1915.

You abominable Turks/Azeris raped Armenian girls and even old Armenian women then burned them alive in garbage containers while laughing at them begging for their lives.

You Turks, all 93 million of you, deserve to be burned alive just like them.

Ivan Divandeler

https://twitter.com/lextalioner/status/1312819262239711232

Arman Melkonyan

ISIS is Turkey.

Erdogan = Fetullah

AKP = FETO

Stupid Turks,

Keep throwing your best and brightest in jail because they are against you real Turks who relish raping little Turkish boys and little Turkish boys in Medreses and Vakifs.

Turks are the miasma of humanity: https://tele1.com.tr/tag/cocuk-istismari/page/2/

Now that you ran out of Armenian and Greek girls to rape, you do it to your own children. You Turks are depraved animals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_Armenian_Genocide

You cut people’s heads off and rape women in Syria too. Even the Jews admit it now: https://jpost.com/middle-east/rape-ethnic-cleansing-and-looting-un-reveals-turkeys-crimes-in-syria-642883

Mustafa Mehmet

Re you swallow the Duracell battery again keep repeating yourself like a broken record piss off scumbag

Mustafa Mehmet

83 million…. just do it don’t just say it… how come you escape? you are fucking centipedes

Arman Melkonyan

Plus 10 million Azeri Muslim dogs.

Ashok Varma

You are insulting billions of people who have nothing to do with this conflict. Now you wonder no one even non-Muslims have no sympathy for Armenia. Tone your vitriol down a notch.

Ashok Varma

You are venting without looking the causes of this conflict.

Jihadi Colin

“You Turks, all 93 million of you, deserve to be burned alive just like them.”

I hate the Ottoman Sultan Erdogan and I’m pro Armenian and I still think your comment is disgusting and shameful.

Arman Melkonyan

Americans are staunch military NATO allies of Turkey. You Americans cut off human beings’ heads along with the Muslim Turks both in Korea and Syria.

USA=ISIS=Turkey

Jihadi Colin

“You Americans”.

I’m Indian.

Anything else?

Arman Melkonyan

Are you sure that’s better?

You’re going against your own religion, culture and reason itself by imposing Zionist bankers’ worthless fake fiat money on your own people by taxing and disparaging honest money gold.

Plus, you treat your own people like shit. Heard of the caste system?

You like collectivelyraping women in buses then butchering them too. You Indians have fairly repulsive and ignorant elements among you as well.

Pathetic.

Jihadi Colin

I laughed.

I’m an atheist, but that’s not why I laughed. I laughed because you’re generalising 1300 million people on the basis of the crimes of a subset. No wonder you’re calling for an entire nation, Turkey, to be “burnt alive” for the crimes of Sultan Erdogan and co.

Generalisation is stupid and always shows your own bigotry. Didn’t you know?
