Azerbaijan Primes Itself For Another Day Of Intense Hostilities, As Armenia Restores Some Positions Overnight

Over the evening of September 27th, and continuing in September 28th, clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno Karabakh continued.

Both sides reportedly deployed heavy artillery.

During the fighting in Karabakh, the Armenian side suffered losses overnight, 15 more servicemen were killed. As of the morning of September 28th, the number of victims among the military is 31 people.

It is unclear how many Azerbaijani soldiers were killed, as Armenia claims to be in the hundreds, while Azerbaijan claims it lost none.

The most recent report is that overnight Azerbaijan lost some positions to the Armenian army, which pushed back to reclaim them due to the reduced intensity of attacks.

A video was shared reportedly showing two Armenian tanks being destroyed by Azerbaijani forces.

Separate reports claimed that Russia was providing assistance to Armenia through Iran. With photographs showing military hardware being delivered.

On the morning of September 28th, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that they attempted risk reduction, but Azerbaijan had refused everything.

The overnight intensity of clashes was low, but they kept happening.

As of the morning of September 28th, Azerbaijan is reportedly continuing its heavy offensive, using artillery, armored vehicles and TOS.

Armenia is firmly defending its positions.

A video was released of an Armenian ATGM hitting an Azerbaijani tank.

An Azerbaijani General was reportedly wounded and taken prisoner by Armenian forces.

A presumed list was published of the names of Syrian militants that were sent to assist Azerbaijan in the offensive.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said he is “extremely concerned over the fresh resumption of hostilities” between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“The Secretary-General strongly calls on the sides to immediately stop fighting, de-escalate tensions and return to meaningful negotiations without delay,” Guterres’s spokesman said in a statement.

Guterres “condemns the use of force and regrets the loss of life and the toll on the civilian population,” the statement said, adding that the secretary-general would speak to the president of Azerbaijan and the prime minister of Armenia.

Both sides exchanged accusations, with Armenia saying that Azerbaijan has caused the escalation, with Turkey directly supporting it in its offensive.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan later called on the international community to ensure that Turkey does not involve itself in Armenia’s conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Pashinyan also said Turkey’s behavior could have destructive consequences for the South Caucasus and neighbouring regions.

The Nagorno-Karabakh leader Araik Harutyunyan said that the region has lost some positions to Azerbaijan’s army amid renewed clashes.

He also said there were dead and wounded both among civilians and military personnel.

Azerbaijan said that full responsibility for the present situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border falls on the political and military leadership of Armenia, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has said.

“Another [act of] aggression by Armenia against Azerbaijan is a blatant violation of fundamental norms and principles of international law, international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, as well as United Nations Security Council Resolutions 822, 853, 874, 884 of 1993, demanding the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the armed forces of Armenia from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” the ministry said in a statement.

Turkey has voiced its support for Azerbaijan in response to the clashes.

“While I call on the Armenian people to take hold of their future against their leadership that is dragging them to catastrophe and those using it like puppets, we also call on the the entire world to stand with Azerbaijan in their battle against invasion and cruelty,” said Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Twitter.

“We will support our Azerbaijani brothers with all our means in their fight to protect their territorial integrity,” added Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar in a statement.

How did it begin?

Armenia’s Defense ministry said an attack on civilian settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, including the regional capital Stepanakert, began on the morning of September 27th.

The authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh said 18 people were killed – 16 of their troops, a woman and a child – and 100 wounded.

Armenia’s government declared martial law and total military mobilization, shortly after a similar announcement by the authorities inside Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Get ready to defend our sacred homeland,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said after accusing Azerbaijan of “planned aggression”.

Warning that the region was on the brink of a “large-scale war”, he urged the international community to unite to prevent any further destabilization.

Armenia said it had shot down two helicopters and three drones, and destroyed three tanks during the clashes. It also said that it had killed hundreds of Azeri soldiers.

Azerbaijan’s defense ministry confirmed the loss of one helicopter but said the crew had survived, and reported that 12 Armenian air defense systems had been destroyed. It denied other losses reported by Armenia.

President Aliyev said he had ordered a large-scale counter-offensive operation in response to Armenian army attacks.

“I am confident that our successful counter-offensive operation will put an end to the occupation, to the injustice, to the 30-year-long occupation,” he said.

A video was released showing the result of an Armenian counterattack. There appears to be no videos published of the clashes overnight.

A video was also shared on Twitter presumably showing Syrian militants being deployed by Turkey to assist the Azerbaijani army.

The situation is still developing with Armenia reportedly holding its positions, but Azerbaijan just renewing the heavy intensity of the offensive. Currently, the situation is on the brink of full-out war between the two neighboring countries over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Just read Azerbaijan captured some armenian territory while Armenia captured a significant azeri military general! Seems both sides are losing some important things

Free man

War is a bad thing. Especially in this area. The parties have been hating / fighting each other for a very long time. In the current conflict, I don’t see how Armenia can stand up to the size of the Azeri army and its sophisticated weapons. An Azeri power is growing north of Iran. I think that’s a good thing. It gives hope to the Iranian Azeris, who are ruled by the oppressive mullahs regime.

cactus

do you guys actually know that ayatolah khameni is of azeri orgin ? you guys are delusonial thinking a war between iran and azerbeidjan could errupt specially with good relations with both countries and with turkey they would never let a war happen

d'Artagnan

This freeman is complete idiot with one dimensional nonsense.

<>

Stop crying when things don’t go the way you want, mullah sucker.

Kenny Jones ™

Iran can seize Azeristan in a few days if it wants to, keep pushing Armenia to their side, it’s helping them

Free man

In talking Iran can do many things.

Free man

But crying is all he can do. For years he has been writing here that the mullahs regime is strong and brave. Now we can see how strong and brave they are in the Caucasus. Perhaps he wants Iran to establish an Armenian Hezbollah in Armenia to strengthen it.

<>

True Free Man, he is actually very amusing :)

Free man

This is what happens when reality hits you in the face. Let him cry it out.

Tractor Sazi is a football team from the Azeri region where the supreme leader was born. It doesn’t seem that the Iranian Azeris like the dictator: https://twitter.com/VOANews/status/1028098555955707904

Sauron

thats why Iran seems to be quiet. last thing Iran needs right now is internal destabilization

Free man

I see a great fear in the Iranian media of an Azeri victory.

Sauron

of course, the border gets longer

Free man

More strategic mountains where the Israelis can set up intelligence bases.

Sauron

Mossad bases maybe, but those areas (fighting near Iran) are mostly flat though

Free man

Indeed, they are farther from the border, but they can see / hear over great distances.

paolinks

Armenians despite being outgunned 3:1 have done well and can hold out.

Free man

it’s confusing. Are you today the Jew who hates Russia, like yesterday. Or are you today yourself, the Iranian who hates Russia?

Fleecing Rabbi

Russia belongs to the Jews. Putin is our man.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Jews facing anti-Semitism in Europe to return to Russia.

https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1ed9a96f1c9bb61d9d5adbfd5577f96c249aec20ddf8d8186ba8d24f02ca92d6.jpg

Free man

I don’t understand this trend of mullahs supporters impersonating Jews.

Fleecing Rabbi

I agree with you whole heartedly.

Vox Populi

Armenian military may be good but in the end strategic mass counts. The Azeris will outgun them and have the numbers. Unless Russia steps in, it may not end well for Armenia as it is isolated. Even the Greeks have not offered any support.

guest

A weak vacillating Russia again let’s down Armenia as Turkey increases support for its client Azerbaijan.

Russia Appears Indecisive as Turkey Exposed as Backing Azerbaijan War in Karabakh. This conflict has dire consequences for Russia itself if Armenia is rolled back.

Kenny Jones ™

Russia unfortunately isn’t the same as that of 5 years ago, this is where Iran needs to step in and address the Pan-Turk, Zionist and Western threat to the Caucasus region

guest

Putin is a cowardly idiot in Zionist pockets and Iran is mostly on its own as the Chinese can not be trusted by anyone. Iran is now a defacto nuclear power and will assert itself as US retreat from Iraq has shown. US is now even closing its embassy in Baghdad..

Free man

Are you, today, Iranian again ? Or are you a Jew like yesterday?

Fleecing Rabbi

Many happy Jews in Iran. Mazal tov.

Free man

He is like you, a mullahs support who sometimes impersonate a Jew.

Kenny Jones ™

Chinese are ok, they’re waiting for US distraction of Iran to make the move to Taiwan

Fog of War

The Chinese are money loving cowards who sold their souls for a few promised Shekels. They wont do sh*t.

Kenny Jones ™

Yes but since China’s economy is better than Russia’s, it will think more of morale than always money, Russia really needs Turkey for its gas and that’s why they don’t want to worsen relations, China already has the belt and road network which is enough

Concrete Mike

Right its all russias fault aint it?

Have you paid ANY attention in the political scene in Armenia in the last year?

Come on bud.

Fleecing Rabbi

Russia will only fight for my people. Let the goyim kill each other.

https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c1c0adae2e7f0346d059274bd8baf4742435769c89f8b9d29f85c47bd404973e.jpg

paolinks

Really off on you analysis. Russia is a superpower and superpowers never expose themselves openly in such conflicts.

Same goes for the US and even China.

But, in the back, Russia has already started sending weapons to Armenia. But only weapons and a limited batch. Why? Because Pashynian is an american bitch!! He is one of those “EU friendly” stooges, always ready to backstab Moscow. So why Russia should get heavily involved?

SnowCatzor

And in come the Turkic trolls with their cope posts… The stupidity of their commentary really shows their low education levels.

Concrete Mike

Yup, it appears the turks have some “new” friends today, the zionists.

Surprise surprise.

guest

Turkey and Russia were the first to recognize the Zionist cancer in Palestine. The Turks are the most treacherous scum on earth along with the Zionists.

Concrete Mike

There is a zionist faction in turkey for sure.

Vox Populi

Turkey is a key NATO ally and has close ties to Israel historically as the Arabs under British command destroyed the Ottoman Empire. Mustafa Kemal was very anti-Arab himself.

paolinks

Erdogan is very anti-Kemal himself.

Jihadi Colin

The Ottomans have always been closely allied with the zios. Even after the Gaza freedom flotilla was attacked by the zios, my antiErdogan Turkish friend pointed out that Erdo only screamed and frothed at the mouth; he never actually did anything to stop relations with the zionist entity.

Fleecing Rabbi

I vacation in Turkey, they are our people.

Fleecing Rabbi

Mazal Tov. It is good that our Christian and Muslim enemies are killing each other. More power to my chosen flock.

Concrete Mike

Hah. Your next buddy. Were coming for you!

Hey my oven light is burnt out, know anyone?

Assad must stay

Hahahaha would suck to be that Azeri general that got captured

Lazy Gamer

That journalist better have a long selfie stick. lol

hvaiallverden

Its easy to let one self be “impressed” by the attackers videos, drone images and the shelling, witch of course is covered by forward mounted drones or personel as scouts, and never forget, its the initial attack witch have the benefit of the surprice, and all thoe the Armenians/NK had troops deplyed, the first strike is always the best if you regard that from the Azeri/Turds perspective incl military, and such an attack will always have its benefits, and causalitys/looses for the attacked side, since its the opening salvoe, and causalitys, so to me, I am neither surpriced of the aperant “defeating” of the border troops, nor the fact that the Turds have learned to use Drones, they arent that stupid, but then we have the present, when the overwelming surprice is gone and we now enter an stage where its going to be much worse for the Azeri/Turdians to continue further, and the Arms have reconsiliated their army and strategy. Shelling with atilery is just old fascion terror, and shooting into civlians have no military strat. effect, other then scare the people, apart from that, of course to shell the defence tructures witch of course is done but that would not harm the defenders as much as the terrorising of civilians in the vilages/citys further inn land.

So, as before, to conclude anything is way to early, but then we have other issues, look at the map, and they borders to Iran, and I would bet on that sooner or later, something will happen into that direction, because this campagne is suported by the ZATO forces and I dont trust them at all, and forget Russia, they have wigled them self into an corner and I know this will escalate, to what extention is for now a tiny but uncertain, but when we deal with the scums of this earth, Azeris have been to ISISrael, the Turds have the same, both ISISrael and Turdia controls norther parts of Syria and fights in Libya, and all with the supervision of the Imperial banana republic and all Putin is doing is sitting there with his thumbs of his ass, and drools something about, dont do this eh….. please, huh, but, the Russians will pay for their compliance with the scums of this earth, and their cowardness. Putin is an bloody fiasco. The Russian gear, well, I dont underestemate them, in Syria they shoot down more or less everything where they are, and they are there where the Russians are, but the fight against or the pretending to fight the Turds happy head chopping, of course, modeRats, is become and joke and an insult, because of the fact that to end that war, like this, you need to pinpoint the heads, wack em, and the Russians/Putin have so far refused to do anything substancial, the rest is just an show, since the initital strategy was as far I know an bloody catastophe and it seems that the same inability or willingness to do anything substanical is again riding high and the Armenians will bleed, but I really hope I am wrong, I dont doubt the Armenians, but I doubt everybody else.

But watch the border to Iran. And I dont waist time on the drivel about Turds been alone, nope, they are cooperating with the terrorstate ISISrael/Britain and UssA. Its about Oil and Gass aka the AmeriTards GOD (Guns, Oil and Drugs)

Because, of not only Armenia, but the entire caucasus region, incl the Caspian sea region, is right now set under fire, and as before, cui bono.

peace

SevenMoons

It is just funny that Armenia is asking Turkey not get involved and yet it has been directly involved in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Let Azerbaijan take control of Nagorno-Karabakh. It is part of Azerbaijan. They should negotiate to form a federation.

Jihadi Colin

In a one on one fight Armenia would – yet again – smack Azerbaijan around. But it won’t be a fair fight because the Ottomans are guaranteed to continue backing the Azeris in every way, from equipment to troops to jihadi headchoppers. This was so predictable that even I said yesterday,as soon as I had heard that Azerbaijan attacked Nagorno Karabakh, that the Ottomans were responsible. Yet the great geopolitical master Putin who is omniscient and plans everything a thousand years into the future was – how many times is this now? Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Belarus? – caught napping. No matter, Putin will, as always, react just enough to impose an unstable status quo – say 50% of Nagorno Karabakh in Ottoman/Azeri hands – and depend on his worshippers to pretend that this is a colossal victory.

Fog of War

” Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Belarus? – caught napping. No matter, Putin will, as always, react just enough to impose an unstable status quo – ”

Hes not napping. Look up ” smoke and mirrors “.

Jihadi Colin

Is that why Amerikastani B52 bombers and RC135 reconnaissance planes are flying in Ukranazi airspace right up to the Russian border, forcing Russia to turn on its air defence systems and exposing their electronic signatures for future jamming? Is that why under Russia’s nose the Ottoman-jihadi alliance and the Amerikastani-Kurd alliance have de facto broken Syria into three pieces? Is that why once Russian ally Libya is now a shattered hellhole fought over by an Ottoman stooge slave trader regime and a known CIA asset “field marshal”? Of course, it could be and Putin could be blinded by his own smoke and confused by his own reflections in the mirrors.

Or maybe he’s just more incompetent than omniscient.

Fog of War

We agree and you dont even seem to know it. How many fatal ” mistakes ” did Hitler make during the course of WW2 ?

jaimeintexas

Anyone knows of a good web site to read about the history of that area, so that I can understand the issues?

Is Turkey really moving Syrian Jihadist into that conflict? Didn’t Turkey send Syrian Jihadist into Lybia?

Phoron

If Pashinyan doesnt wind up eating his tie before this whole thing is done, he can thank the Armenian grunts on the ground
