Backlashes after Netanyahu’s allegations over the role of Palestinians in Jewish extermination in World War II

Benjamin Netanyahu at Zionist Congress

According to the speech given by the Israeli leader, Hitler wouldn’t had carried out the Final Solution if the Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem at that time, Haj Amin al-Husseini, hadn´t told him to apply the measure against millions of jews. Netanyahu also stated that Hitler only wanted to expulse Jews from Europe, but Husseini told him to “Burn them all”, otherwise they would move and occupy Palestinian ground.

Historians and Holocaust experts consider Netanyahu’s allegations incorrect and full of hate against Palestinians; they also believe that he should stop trying to twist historical facts to his convenience in order to justify his political aims and consequent occupation of what once belonged to Palestine.

This time, opposition didn’t only come from the pro-Palestinian side, but also Israeli officials as Israeli Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon and Zionist Union MP Itzik Shmuli who said that Netanyahu’s declarations were incorrect and he should apologize with Holocaust victims for what was considered a big magnitude lie and distortion of a historical fact widely known by all.

These declarations took place amid the increasing violence in the West Bank, Gaza and the occupied territories by Israeli forces.
