Battle For Al-Bukamal Blazes Up As ISIS Takes Back City (Video)

Support SouthFront

On November 12, ISIS fighters recaptured al-Bukamal city on the Syrian-Iraqi border, according to Syria pro-government activists. Meanwhile, local sources confirmed that most of al-Bukamal is under ISIS control. However, the local sources stressed that the city is still besieged by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah.

Syrian pro-government sources reported that the Tiger Forces started advancing south of Mayadin city towards al-Bukamal in order to put more pressure on ISIS. According to the sources, the Tiger Forces advanced 10km and reached al-Asharah village south of Mayadin.

The delay of the Tiger Forces operation south of Mayadin city likely allowed ISIS to focus on al-Bukamal city and to reinforce its units there. This means that the coordination within the SAA was very poor during the ongoing military operation.

Moreover, the fact that ISIS fighters are defending many of the terrorist group leaders who are now trapped inside al-Bukamal city made the battle even harder than what was expected.

Syrian opposition groups reported on November 12 that “Hazem al-Barghash” a member of ISIS Shura Council was killed in al-Bukamal city. The Shura Council is considered ISIS’ top council, and it only includes members.

The Hezbollah media wing in Syria also reported that three military commanders of ISIS were killed in al-Bukamal city, “Hani al-Thalgi”, “Abu Munzer al-Shishani” and “Abu Mohamad al-Safi”.

More leaders and military commanders are likely hiding inside al-Bukamal city, including the leader of the terrorist group Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The SAA and its allies will likely launch another attack against ISIS inside al-Bukamal city in the upcoming hours. This time with the pressure from the Tiger Forces advance, ISIS might fully collapse inside al-Bukamal.

This was reported yesterday by Al-Masdar and Fort Russ. With Suria and Russia enjoying air dominance sich setbacks are inescusable…unless, as I stated earlier there is some sort of deal between Putin and Trump to hand over al-Bukanal to the illegal US colonial imperialist invasion forces as stated earlier, with ISIS again transforming themslves into SDF. It is now also clear that the chppers seen landing inside the city were indeed US not Russian or Syrian.

Solomon Krupacek

yup, and sdf-isis is bullshit.

see you, saa is extremly week. and part of saa is the “glorious” hezbollah. hahaha. howwill they run before iaf, when the barefoot isis jihadists can them defeat? ;)

Joe

As usual you talk rubbish. SAA is well supported by Iran and the fierce Hez where Israelis will freeze just mentioning their names Hezbollah otherwise they piss in their pants

That is why you see Israel us so scared Hez be stationed right at their border. IAF very brave … Able to bomb them indeed .

Dr. Ronald Cutburth

would be difficult or ill advised under the changing front to for the Russian airospace to accidentally kill SAA soldiers. Russia already provided air support and Sea support targeting the surroundings of al-Bukamal. That made it possible for the SAA to originally take the main parts of the city. It has been noted on South Front that ISIS is expected to have many tunnels there.

Jens Holm

Thats garbage crap of the worst kind.

Jens Holm

Even with a better microscope You wont see that. More likely You are member of CIA using internet.

SG

CIA wouldn’t want to admit to American war crimes.

SG

Why on earth would a CIA internet troll agree with this on the internet while on shift?

US airlifts ISIS-Daesh terrorists in Syria for 2nd time in a week.

Russia has also oil deals with Iraqi Kurds. No surprise if Trump whom Putin believes in told him to surrender Albukamal.Invited Russia makes deals with USA which is against Syrian government.

John Whitehot

lol we know, it’s tough to be you these days

Dr. Ronald Cutburth

If Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. is trapped in the city, the other fighers will fight all to the death in a longer fight.

John Whitehot

perhaps there’s Osama bin-Laden there as well? What about al-zarkawy?

Tudor Miron

Lets wait a couple of days and see how it unfolds. My opinion is that a) ISIS didn’t really take back the sity but only some parts of it. b) It would not be for long and they will be cleared out

Garga

There’s another report (in Persian) that says ISIS presence is limited to the residential area in northwestern part of the city and because of the civilian population which is used as a shield by ISIS, SAA and allies are more cautious to act. ISIS attacks is “hit and run”. You’re right, it’s wise to wait a couple of days. if no outside forces intervene, BuKamal will be fully liberated in the following days.

You can call me Al

With you there – more “smoke and mirrors”

It was tactically smart by SAA to invite all those leaders in to the town, and now they’re all captured inside.

goingbrokes

Yes. It seems disappointing that Daesh has managed to take back AB, some of it could be disinfo. Or a plan. We are looking at the last battles of Daesh which will have to include at least some of their top leaders (those that haven’t been helicoptered to safety). One of the ways to gain information about their tactical outlook and situation is to observe their behaviour. You cannot do that if you massively overwhelm them. So I think this is part plan/tactic, part caution and part Daesh fury at the end.

Attrition47

I’m sceptical of the report too, we’ll see what’s really up in the next few days.

Man Dagang

You shld be dead crying with hundreds of jets sorties & russian weapons might coward SAA been flushed butt by light arm isis mujahidin

Pete

According to the http://isis.liveuamap.com, SAA would like to shorten the front-line encircling a large area from Mayadin through the desert, which is vital part of the end of the conflict. SAA i think, reorganized effort to Hama, and underestimated the remaining pocket. (instead of moving forward in Mayadin, moved forward in Hama) I think at that moment the borders are crystal clear what will happen until ISIS will be eliminated, after that who knows. (I think SDF held area is a little bit tricky, as SDF might behave in the same way like in Iraq, but the Arab side of the faction might cause similar difficulties to SAA than ISIS did, if they want to invade them)

jerrydrakejr

Why greedy? What would you do? If someone breaks up your country and kills civilians, whether you would calculate or go to a quicker release. I fully accept his thinking because I am from the state, from the city around which 146 battles were fought during the history and 40 times destroyed to the ground. From a land that was conquered several times, and every time the killing of the population was catastrophic (30%, 25%, etc.). The army does not lose the battle due to bad tactics, but precisely because of the above – hurry, because the more you wait, the more civilians will be killed. It’s easy to keep hosts away when your family is home in a safe …

Pete

I have expected that kind of comments, Hama was a little bit calm, nowadays, i’m just saying it’s a stupid strategy of Assad to fight everywhere, that’s why the war slowed down. (He is greedy, because he is underestimating the enemy, and in his eyes everybody is none, in this case the war never really ends)

goingbrokes

Apart from the word count you are very efficient. Stupidity, arrogance and lack of insight due to brain-washing, all in one package. Next time use less words, it’s even more efficient.

Florian N

How dare you to write a comment without bad IsraHELL or USZIONISTS. You also forgot to do stuff like this: SDF=ISIS=JEWS=SAA=US=RUSSIA=FORD.

Also you must admit that Russian State Media is always neutral and right, except when they say that they have a deal with USA than my first point is active again. All other State Media outlets from other sides are ZIOAMERICAN WORLD ORDER. Stop trying to be logical by using logic! Better use conspiracy theories.

dutchnational

I would agree with you. Kurds can mobilise a higher percentage as less of their young men fled too. SDF is growing rapidly in numbers while SAA can hardly find new recruits.

Garga

Bravo, excellent comment! That’s precisely what we were saying all along: SDF is growing rapidly, due to addition of ISIS.

Serious Dude

SDF has fought all stripes of Islamists from the beginning.

Garga

Yeah, sure. At the end they recruited the ISIS. Perhaps next stop is HTS.

Serious Dude

That’s why they are getting killed by ISIS?

dutchnational

So all these women and kurdish males are now suddenly former IS? IS Just had hundreds when taken and suppose they all joined SDF, SDF forces grew by over 40k, so plain nonsense.

Kennethllindsy

Not so much addition of Isis, but rather changing allegiance of local tribes previously under Isis domination. Syria & Iraq remain sandwiched between Turks, Persians & Arabs; with little change in overall dynamic that gave rise to Isis.

Kennethllindsy

SAA increased conscription recently for above 42 years old to include $8000 buy out. Some estimates are SAA is 60% foreign at this time.

King_GeorgXIII

A big booty Trap, let all ISIS fighters meet in the city and the gang bang!

It has just been denied by a representative of the Russian Armed Forces. It is verbal words and fake news.

Russia told that Al Bukamal are under SAA control and all news about that ISIS has retake the city are fake!

Tarciso Ribeiro

Yes I just read it on sputniknews.com

Mauro Craizer

Is this a fishing operation? Will crazed wahhabis take it? Burn ’em all and crush their seed to the ground.

Vitex

I suspect that the SAA is once again fighting against the assembled SOF of the US, UK, Israel and probably the odd Norwegian / frog thrown in. If that be so, they’re doing quite well. I left out the Saudis as Saudi soldiers don’t count.

gustavo

Whatever the good reaction ISIS could have right now, by the middle of this week, they will be completely destroyed. i hope Russia not be so confident in the victory, and brig strong air protection and support to ground troops. The war is won ntil it is won. It is senseless to say (politician) we are about to win such a war.

Joe

It’s going to be the toughest twon as ISIS Leaders, the whole group of them can be in there. So they are like to use whatever weapons they have or lose the fight.

Another cheap bad vicious ways like in RAqqa, just bomb them to to pieces with high civilian casualties which can be bad.

Kennethllindsy

Don’t blame Tiger, as the SAA never captured Bukamal; and then there was a massive Isis counterattack. No doubt SAA will take Bukamal, but also No Doubt SAA will have to battle an insurgency in the region for months or years to come.

They need to attack right now. If that is where all f the leadership is, then that is the head of the Dragon. They need to kill or capture them quickly. Believe me, their plan now is to simply escape to ether Turkey or Israel or the Golan Heights or to the UK. Live an easy life for months, then wait further instructions from their Mi6 and Mossad handlers for the next war which will be against either Lebanon or Russia or Iran.

Man Dagang

This stupid SAA shld cross euphrates and battle SDF for all oil fields for national resources
