The military situation in Eastern Ghouta is rapidly developing as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Tiger Forces, the Republican Guard (RG) and their allies are developing momentum against militants in the area.
On March 10, government forces liberated the key town of Misraba from militants in the central part of the pocket. The SAA and the RG further advanced in the area of Harasta aiming to cut off the district from the rest of the militant-held area. On March 11, army troops continued their advance in the both directions and advanced on Aftris.

Separtely, the SAA and the Tiger Forces conducted few attempts to storm the town of Jisreen, but failed to achieve any notable gains. However, if government troops establish control over Aftris, the militant defense will also collapse in Jisreen.
Clashes in the town of Rayhan were also reported. The town remained one of the points of the militants’ defense in the northern part of the pocket.
