Following a series of successes on June 16, the Iraqi Security Forces and their allies from the Popular Mobilisation Units have liberated the main government compound in the centre of the city of Fallujah from the ISIS terrorist group.
“The counter-terrorism service and the rapid response forces have retaken the government compound in the centre of Fallujah,” the operation’s overall commander, Lieutenant General Abdulwahab al-Saadi, said on June 17.
Reports say the government forces raised the Iraqi flag above the municipal building and now, they are continuing operations in the ISIS-controlled areas of the city.
By now, the Iraqi government forces and its allies have liberated the area of Al Mokhtar and the city’s neighborhoods of Resalah, Green, Nazzal, Niaimiyah and Martyrs.
