On February 26th, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially confirmed the full control of the town of Pogrebki and the village of Orlovka on its southern outskirts. This is another important victory of the Russian army in the Kursk region.
The liberation of Pogrebki and Orlovka by Russian troops was reported the day before. LINK Stormtroopers of the Russian 34th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade raised the Russian flag in the center of the village. Then, they immediately liberated Orlovka. Forces of the “elite” 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that were holding defense in these settlements retreated to Malaya Loknya.
According to preliminary reports from the battlefield, Russian forces are also completing the mop up operation in Novaya Sorochina located between Pogrebki and Malaya Loknya.
Battle for Pogrebki:
Russian forces in the industrial zone on the southern outskirts of Pogrebki:
Another important victory of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was reported in the village of Lebedevka located northwest of Sudzha. The Ministry of Defense is yet to officially confirm the full control of the settlement, but Russian forces are already completing the mop up operations on the outskirts.
Russian advance from Sverdlikovo to the east in Lebedevka and to the west across the border in the Sumy region is threatening the line of Ukrainian defense northwest of Sudzha. Ukrainian forces have build a line of fortified positions near the local lake to protect Sudzha from Russian attacks from the northwest, but the ongoing development of Russian offensive supposes that Russian forces could simply bypass this line of Ukrainian defense and take it in a pincer grip with flank attacks.
Russian victories in and around Sverdlikovo largely increased Russian fire on the main supply road to the entire Ukrainian garrison in the Kursk region, which lays from the Sumy region to Sudzha. Ukrainian units are suffering heavy losses long before they enter the Russian region.
As a result of disruption of military supplies, the Armed Forces of Ukraine con no longer resist and retreat in all directions around Sudzha.
The retreating Ukrainian units are suffering heavy losses both in military equipment and manpower. All destroyed Ukrainian positions are covered with bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers. The retreating Ukrainian units have no chance to evacuate the bodies of their dead comrades.
Russian fighters reported that there are a lot of bodies with their fingers or limbs cut off. One of the intercepted radio communications revealed that some Ukrainian commanders gave order to their soldiers to go to the destroyed positions and shoot off the fingers of the dead, so that they could send them for DNA examination and inform the relatives about the deaths of thier loved ones. This is easier than to take the entire body of a killed soldier from the battlefield.
Unfortunately, not all Ukrainian commanders care about the relatives of their soldiers and prefer hiding the real losses in their units. Ukrainian fighters complain that a lot of Ukrainian officers prefer hiding the deaths to steal the salaries of the dead soldier. Tens of thousands of dead Ukrainian soldiers are officially considered missing and their relatives do not receive any payments for their deaths. This is how Kiev gains money on the lives of its soldiers thrown into meat grinders on the frontlines.
