According to the first reports from the front lines, Russian-led forces took control of the town of Volcheyarovka on June 26. The town is the strategically important area in the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk metropolitan region.
Russian military positions in the town allow to establish fire control over the Lisichansk-Seversk road which is the last one used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for military supply to their positions.
The group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has lost the possibility of withdrawing the remaining forces from Lisichansk. Russian-allied forces have established military positions on the heights in the town and now the Seversk-Lisichansk highway is under full fire control of the artillery of the Russian Federation.
According to the reports from the spot, Russian control was established after fierce clashes. Judging by the footage from the spot, the AFU suffered heavy losses in the area.

This war won’t really be over until the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk-Druzhovka-Konstantinovka line is broken, and when it is I suspect we’ll see Russia steam roll through the other regions.
Yeah, seems super fast to me, but perhaps the Ukrops are panicking and it’s becoming every man for himself. The report on Zelensky cronies has come from numerous sources. Seems TASS is the only source for the entry into Lisichansk itself.
I think what will matter is how many cities have these industrial areas that these Ukraine troops hide in.
I believe as you go West, there are less of these industrial areas. This is good because if Ukraine tries to hide in buildings you just knock the building down easily if its not an industrial building.
Looking at the map, it looks like the Russians cut-off the route of retreat to the industrial centers so in this case the Ukrainians are trapped in the city and being pushed to the city center, away from the residential areas. No civilians, no hostages / shields.
Ed – I’m presuming that the buildings you are knocking down are the homes of the citizens, if they aren’t industrial buildings?
