Big Deal: SDF Agreed With U.S. Company To Trade Oil – Report

Support SouthFront

The so-called Self-Administration in North and Northeast Syria had singed a deal with an U.S. oil company, the Al-Monitor reported on July 30, citing sources familiar with the matter.

One of the sources told the Washington-based outlet, that the agreement, under which the U.S. company would market oil in territory controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and modernize existing fields, was signed last week.

The source identified the company as the Delaware-based Delta Crescent Energy LLC. A license to operate in Syria was granted to the company by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, OFAC.

The SDF controls most of Syria’s oil resources. The largest oil fields, al-Rmelan and al-Omar, are both controlled by the Kurdish-led group. Around 500 U.S. troops were also deployed in northeastern Syria to “guard” these fields.

Ferhat Abdi Şahin, aka “Mazloum Abdi,” Commander-in-Chief of the SDF informed U.S. senator Lindsay Graham of the deal in a recent phone call.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also confirmed that he knew of the SDF oil deal during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee session on July 30.

“The deal took a little longer, than we had hoped, and now we’re in implementation,” Pompeo said to Graham during the session.

According to Al-Monitor, the U.S. also agreed to provide two modular refineries to the SDF. The refineries will only meet 20% of the self-administration’s needs.

Over the past few months, U.S. forces improved security at all major oil fields in northeastern Syria. Hundreds of experienced SDF personnel were recruited and trained by the U.S. to help guard these fields.

The SDF-U.S. deal is illegal as it was not approved by the legitimate government in Damascus. The deal could have a disastrous effect on government-held areas in Syria, which purchase fuel from the SDF.

Cheap oil bound to Turkey in exchange for peace. Contract or not, not much changes on the ground.

verner

time for turkey and syria and iraq to finish off the kurdish intrusion in the respective borderlands. the more than stupid states of A need to know that their time in the middle east is up and if they don’t leave in haste they’ll be broiled over oil – poor sod from the fly over states, under-educated and skint in the future department are the ones that will be boiled and not fatso pompeo or dunne the dunce. for those two there ought to be some dead or alive bounties issued by some seriously rich warlord.

HiaNd

Don’t you think that all those Kurds would end up in Europe? And how all that would help EUropeans to get extra 5-6 millions refugees on top of all others during serious economic crisis? That would create riots and even state of civil war. Don’t you see what is happening in US? Once certain negative things get in motion nobody can stop them any longer, fabric of civil society starts to fall apart.

verner

nah return to be tenants in the borderlands and that is what will happen since neither of three will allow independent kurd-enclaves on their respective territories. and moreover, the friggin stupid kurds are useful idiots for the disjointed states of A and israel, to keep the mess going as long as possible but since the disjointed idiots are being squeezed and the jews are in a corner and acting rat-like with minor but useless attacks on hezbollah or iranian or syrian interests in syria. they are bound to fail and will be on the run shortly.

AJ

SDF have agreed to trade stolen oil at the expense of the rest of the country.

Free man

The SDF claims that the agreement is not for all the oil fields in eastern Syria, so as not to deprive the rest of the Syrians.

Cromwell

Well thats good of them,i would crush those rats under tank tracks.

Bill Wilson

Not really. The US has been taking the oil to refineries in Northern Iraq to be turned into finished products that are shipped back to the SDF for their needs and to sell on the open market to Syrians. The SDF earns needed operating revenue by selling the oil and don’t pay a dime for the finished products so those can be sold at prices the Syrians can afford.

Ray " Uncle Sam"

So they make money out of stolen oil! Uncle sam at its best!

Lone Ranger

I can only imagine what the U.S would do if Russia and Mexican drug cartels would carve out a chop from Texas and start trading stolen U.S. oil on the international market… Im sure it would hit the news…

occupybacon

That’s a simple one. Texan police would arrest the entire Russian army and the cartels would feel sorry about the por buckwheat eaters and bail them out. But keep the fleet for drug transport.

Lone Ranger

SAA should do the same indeed…

occupybacon

That would be nice.

Zionism = EVIL

This is hardly news, the Americunts have been stealing Iraqi and Syrian oil to fund their terrorist proxies for about 5 years now, first Erdogan’s son Bilal and family were the main criminals and now the SDF terrorists are directly stealing oil and taking a cut. Theft is now a major part of the deadbeat imploding Americunt economy. That is why it is really necessary to kick the cunts out of the region by massive resistance and costs.

johnny rotten

The usual agreements that Yankeestan makes with organized crime in the countries who illegally occupies and claims to deceive with a fake legality, following the philosophy of Lucky Luciano.

Laurent Parodi

Will Russia Syria and Iran wake up and realize they won the war but are loosing the peace?

Lakeside

Russia controls Libyan oilfield too. No big deal. The US introduces this kind of situation in some regions and are not happy when other countries borrow from their play books.

HiaNd

??!!

Paid Russian mercenaries protecting Libyan oilfield you mean….But that doesn’t make Russia an owner of that oil field.

Free man

That’s a nice sentence. I think the Russians understand exactly what’s going on. They understand that the only way to get eastern Syria back is to push the Iranian forces out of Syria. As long as the Iranian forces are in Syria the Americans won’t leave.

occupybacon

They won’t live anyway. Like in Iraq.

Free man

I see no other reason, other than the Iranians, for the Americans’ stay in Syria. Eastern Syria is not as strategically important and rich in oil as Iraq.

occupybacon

Iranians could come back next day.

Free man

Truth. But I suppose the Americans and Turks will leave Syria only under a comprehensive agreement with UN guarantees.

occupybacon

Nobody cares of the UN, especially US, Turkey and Israel.

Free man

The Iranians really care about the UN. They don’t want any more sanctions.

occupybacon

Exactly, the recent sanctions are imposed by USA not by UN.

Cromwell

No the only way they will leave is in a box.

Cromwell

Get real,if the Iranians left overnight the US wouldn’t leave, they have to be ejected.

Free man

No one can force the Americans out of Syria.

Cromwell

Why? there are only 500 US criminals there, the Vietnamese forced thousands outthe only thnig lacking so far is the will to do it.

Free man

Who do you suggest will fight the Americans?

Neurasth

No way, thats a zionist lie. Iranians are Syria’s best friend. If they left overnight the zionists would embolden even more and ramp up their bullying.

The only way to make them leave is to kill them, and kill enough of them that they decide its not worth it.

Free man

The more you see SAA soldiers from the 5th corps, supported by Russia, in areas where there were Iranian militias. Understand that the Iranian forces are being pushed out of Syria.

Free man

The SDF needs to fund the war against ISIS and the rebuilding of eastern Syria. The SDF claims that the agreement is not for all the oil fields in eastern Syria, so as not to deprive the rest of the Syrians.

good american

So, the SDF sells to the US to fund the war against ISIS, and then the US sells the oil on the market to fund ISIS? Do the proceeds from both sales go to buy US sourced weaponry?

Fog of War

But all the Syrian and Russian fan boys said this would be impossible to accomplish. Great job Putin, at this rate the Syrian Kurds will establish a permanent country once they join up with Iraqi Kurdistan. So much winning Russia . SMH

good american

How would the oil leave Syria?

Bill Wilson

The US has been shipping the oil to refineries in Northern Iraq where it’s refined into finished products that’s shipped back to the SDF for distribution to sales outlets in areas under their control and to distributors in government controlled areas.

good american

Ok.

Cromwell

This shit was allowed to develop, now it will take a major offensive with tens of thousand of troops with full air cover to liberate that area, but thats what must happen, five hundred criminal US soldiers can’t be allowed to dictate the agenda,if there was a major attack they wouldn’t know what hit them.

chris chuba

The Syrian govt should bomb or shell the trucks or pipelines as you would for any smuggling operation.

cechas vodobenikov

attempted oil smuggling caravans enroute to turkey r routinely bombed by Russian/Syrian war planes

Willing Conscience (The Truths

It’s not just the US getting in on the action. Last year Aramco [Saudi company] sent a delegation to discuss investment opportunities in the al-Omar oil fields, this year the Saudi’s deployed dozens of soldiers to the area to protect the group of Saudi and Egyptian Aramco experts that are working there.

“According to the Arabic service of the Anadolu Agency, local sources said that the Saudi soldiers arrived at Al-Omar oil field aboard helicopters. The source also added that this coincided with the arrival of about 30 trucks carrying drilling and digging equipment, which entered Syrian territory from northern Iraq.”

Russia has the contract to rebuild government oil production facilities but is falling behind the US in that department, the US has already restored several fields under their control to near full capacity, but as far as I know nothings progressing on the Russian side, but I’m not 100% sure though.

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday that he had asked his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to jointly manage oil fields in Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor. “Deir Ez-Zor is another territory with oil reserves. In that province, terrorists exploit the oil resources. America has its own plans here,” Erdogan said in reference to Kurdish-led forces who control the region’s rich oilfields. “I made the offer to Mr. Putin, that; if he gives financial support, we can do the construction and through the oil obtained there, we can help destroyed Syria to get on its feet,” he told reporters aboard his plane on the way back from Brussels. Erdogan explained that he may even propose a similar offer to the US President Donald Trump.”

Maybe we will see joint Russian/Turkish projects in the future, but I think the contract will only be signed when Putin and Erdogan are standing over Assad’s dead body.

Lazy Gamer

The SDF question should take precedence over the Turkish issue. Hard to fight someone when something is hitting your back.

Bill Wilson

Makes sense to have US companies rework the fields since they can do it faster and cheaper than anyone else. Quite a few had been sorely neglected before the fighting started so required major replacement of pump jacks, collection lines and storage tank farms.

cechas vodobenikov

makes sense to a fascist incompetent American thief

Ray " Uncle Sam"

They get bombed on the first day of work by russia!

Free man

They have been working for a long time. I have been reading about agreements with American companies for over a year.

Ray " Uncle Sam"

Russia bomb the large convoys of oil smuggeling trucks didnt they? Iran vailed oil smuggeling Oil tAnkers in the persion gulf! he oil isnt going anywere! And when idlib has fallen east syria is next!

Free man

“And when idlib has fallen” – You are optimistic. “east syria is next!” – But you’re not realistic.

verner

the yankee-twats are hard up and are now trying to cut expenses keeping the jews alive and by giving the stupid useful idiots, the kurds, a straw to cling to, they kick the can a bit down the road but the demise is inevitable – the jews will be hell-bound before long. China and Russia together with Iran and Iraq and Syria, will be in control of most oil in the middle east, from ghawar to damascus and the yankee-twats will have their fracked oil/gas to deal with and that has a short horizon/life expectancy. and the kurds, tenants in the borderlands after as per usual having been shafted royally by the yankee-twats and the jews.

cechas vodobenikov

the idiot amerikans spend more to steal than they receive from revenues—many of the attempt to smuggle oil through turkey fails—they r bombed by Russian/Syrian planes

gustavo

Nobody must be surprised about it.
