In the morning of September 4, a small explosion rocked a camp of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 4th Division in the town of Zaizoun in western Daraa.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that an army officer and four soldiers were injured in the blast, which was caused by an improvised-explosive device (IED).
The wounded service members were identified as Col. Samir Suleiman, Nawaf Rashrsh Junaid, Shadi Younis al-Mbsbis, Mohammad Qasim Azzam and Bassam Mohammed Haritheen.
Last week, seven SAA service members were injured when an IED hit a bus that was transporting them in the eastern Daraa countryside.
Pro-government activists believe that these attacks were orchestrated by ISIS cells in the country’s southern region. A day earlier, the group claimed responsibility for the assassination of a Syrian intelligence operative in the region, which confirm that its cells are still active there.
