Blasts Reported Near Key Russian Air Base In Syria (Videos)

Early on October 3, a series of blasts rocked the vicinity of the Russian Khmeimim Air Base which is located near the coastal Syrian town of Jableh.

According to the pro-government Sham FM, Syrian air defenses opened fire to confront several “targets” off the coast of the governorate of Lattakia. The radio station later reported that firefighters in Jableh were working to extinguish a large blaze.

From its side, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that drones struck an ammunition depot close to Khmeimim Air Base .

The London-based pro-opposition monitoring group said that what appears to be Israeli fighter jets were flying over the sea at the time of the attack.

Neither the Syrian or Russian militaries have released any statement clarifying what exactly happened in Jableh. There was also no comment from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), which does not usually claim responsibility for its attack against Syria.

Khmeimim Air Base, the headquarters of the Russian military group in Syria, was attacked in the past with drones launched by Syrian militants from the northwestern region of Greater Idlib. However, it appears that the IDF was involved in the latest attack.

Israel escalated its attacks on Syria significantly since the outbreak of the war in the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip, targeting Syrian military sites as well as personnel of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hezbollah and other factions of the so-called Axis of Resistance.

The IDF vowed recently to prevent all weapons shipments from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon, which often are delivered via Syria.

Last week, Syrian air defenses intercepted at least 13 aerial targets over the waters off the port of Tartus, where a Russian naval base is located. The IDF was also suspected of being behind the failed attack.

don’t say that israel attacked russian bases in syria again, and sf didn’t even address the fact that it was israel, because – you know – putin couldn’t even explain to his people that israel is untouchable putin would rather kill 150,000 of his own citizens (conscripts) than one israeli soldier. and as for retaliation from russia, you can expect an “asymmetric” reaction, as always. nothing. like nord stream.

before yesterday, people like you were saying the same about iranian retaliation, weren’t you? (hee-hee!)

Snow Den

ah iranian retaliation. they attecked blindly (as they don’t have any intel in israel) and fired 300 missiles ,and they hit something, but this “dent” on israel is nothing. media keep talking bullshit 2 days in a row. let’s do the math. 300 missiles, 50-100 kilos of tnt each, that gives us 30 tons of explosives and that’s it. when an ammunition depot explodes, it’s true to make it much more of a hassle, but the ragheads don’t know where they are.

Snow Den

now let me predict israeli retliation. they dropped no less then 70ktons of explosives on gaza vs 30tons that iran did. for your stupid brain, it is 2300 times more. of course when it comes to bombing iran, they will ask u.s. carriers for help. 2 carrier groups are operating there, 70 aircrafts each. my estimation is they will drop no less then 100.000 tons on iran in less then a week, which equals yield of 4-5 tactical nukes.

Snow Den

after that, there will be no more industry in iran, no oil drilling, no army, no command, no big cities, only tent camps on the borders with 10 million refugees crowded and sitting in shit and pray that israel or u.s. don’t drop some bombs on them

of course they do. they will bomb and kill everything around them, and what is not killed will be enslaved or starved to death. they don’t even hide the fact that it’s a plan. as long as putin plays dead and pretends that nothing has actually happened, they are perfectly on the right track.

netanyahu does say that he wants to topple the syrian government as well. but since lavrov says that he is a friend and admirer of israel, presumably all is well.

apparently it was air defenses located in syria that intercepted at least 13 aerial targets

i will say this again: where is the multipolarity? as long as us/uk/israel bomb with impunity, ever closer to russian bases in syria: there is no multipolarity. not until russia recognizes israel as a rogue state breaking international law and thus ineligible to dictate to russia its terms on preemptive defense/ targeted action on syria. a country that is still reeling from a decade+ of foreign aggression. stand up to israel, russia!

Brett Sinclair

ny times: “yet, despite its central role in the savage civil war, the grandly named syrian observatory for human rights is virtually a one-man band. its founder, rami abdul rahman, who fled syria years ago, operates out of a semidetached red-brick house on an ordinary residential street in this drab industrial city [coventry, england].” like bellingcat, funded by the eu and nato.
