You can give a country a lot of weapons, they also come with a certain doctrine, training and skillsets. The Ukraine doesn’t have those. This is why the West again and again fails to create competent armies in 3rd world countries. Those countries do not have the culture or highly educated populations that the West has. Weaponry designed to be used for people with less education, military training and organization often does a lot better. Even though from a technical POV Western gear is really good. Weapons that require little skill just point and forget, like Stingers and Javelins do well with Ukrainians. Give them complex systems like M-109’s or HIMARS, systems that need a well integrated C3 command systems and people that know how to handle them will do less well. Maybe if the West had supplied those to the Ukraine a year ago and instituted a ruthless training regime on how to use them. But the Ukrainian pre-war army has mostly ceased to be, they’re cranking out new formations with conscripts and volunteers, but those are even less capable of taking in those new NATO super weapons. Especially on the fly.

As youtuber Lazerpig said, there is the Panther paradox. The German Panther tank checked all the right boxes on armor, firepower and speed. On paper it should have been a war winner. And yet it got consistently beaten in tank battles that weren’t ambushes. It did not win Germany the war. Because there are a lot of soft factors too. Crew ergonomics, tank doctrine, unit organization, radio’s, ease of maintenance, fuel consumption, ease of operations. Those sort of things. And in that the West just keeps on missing the target when trying to prop up non-Western armies with Western gear.

That is an accurate summation, the other fact is that Russia with 145 million people has a large strategic mass and trained military manpower and will run Ukraine into the ground with attrition. Russia is too heavily encumbered in Ukraine to back off now. Short of direct NATO attack on Russia, which will be repelled with nuclear weapons and end of Europe and US, the puppet Ukrainian regime is on the rope and can not be saved.

Let’s assume for a moment that all you stated is indeed true. Still, what the USA promised Putin, what will happen, if he invades Ukraine was not that the conventional Uraine Army will withstand the giant russian invader army, but that the russian invaders will face a brutal endless unwinnable guerilla war. That’s what the Americans promised Putin.

So I feel it very funny, that the ruskie fanboys here are so overly self-esteemed about every single ukrainian hut or town the invaders manage to wrestle from the ukrainian natives. Because the real war hasn t even started yet. Please take that into account and mark my words.

By now the Americans know what guerilla war looks like. They had to find it out in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan the hard way. And people claiming that Ukraine isn t acceptable terrain for guerilla warfare are idiots. Of course Vietnam or Afghanistan are better for that style of warfare, but Iraq was much worse, plain, no mountains, just desert. And still the Iraqis without any outside support destroyed the american invader army after roughly 4-8 years of brutal guerilla war, after which the USA decided to withdraw.

(In the end the iranians fell the iraqis into their back and took over near all of Iraq, but the amurrikans were defeated big time!)

You’re partially right. What is true for JUSA isn’t necessary for Russia. Russia have a long experience how to tackle any animosity, lessons took from USSR era. And very very good learned. You’re assumptions simply will not work as stated.

“Panther” didn’t win the War, because its cost was too high, same as “Tiger’s”. “Panther” was a medium tank, but with price of heavy tank like IS-2 or 2 medium T-34s. Cost of maintenance was also higher. 1 superior tank against 2 in duel situation is alright, but 100 tanks against 200 at one field leaves much less chances to win. Though tanks fought against tanks not frequently, AT artillery was the main anti-tank instrument. Tanks were used to hit defense concrete constructions and for rushes behind enemy lines to encircle enemy groups and cut them off supplies.

Nope, the first argument isn’t this, though it is right. The first argument is MORALE, the big mass of Ukraine citizens just simply do not want to die for a extremely corrupt government, for foreign interests and a bankrupt country. Simply as that, because this is the SAME factor in all societies throughout history. Same here in Romania, more than 85% of population are not willing to defend the country because the COUNTRY is NO MORE ! Kaufland, Renault, Lidl, and a pletora of foreign companies and multinationals OWN the country. Romania is NO LONGER of romanians but of external interests.
