Russian forces have cut the T-05-15 highway, which is a key northern logistics route for the Ukrainian Armed Forces en route to Dobropillya. Russian forces have gained full control of the Novovasilyevka settlement on the Zaporizhzhia axis. Combat has begun for the village of Oleksiyivka. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has accused the Ukrainian authorities of interfering in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Pokrovsk Direction:

Units of the «Centre» grouping are engaged in intense fighting for the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, operating within the city and on its flanks.

On the western axis, Russian forces have pushed Ukrainian forces back from the tree lines between the Kotlyne highway and the railway. The clearing of Ukrainian strongpoints immediately beyond the city limits is underway. Russian units have established a presence between these strongpoints and the so-called ‘western’ industrial zone. They have entered the area of the coal warehouses and cut off Schmidt Street. This advance poses a direct threat to Ukrainian logistics routes.

Within Pokrovsk itself, fighting is ongoing in several areas. Clearing operations are ongoing in the Yuzhny, Shakhtyorsky and Solnechny microdistricts, with fighting taking place around the vehicle depot and the water canal in the south-eastern part of the city. In the city center, there are fierce clashes near the auto market, bus station, central market and Palace of Pioneers. In the west, clearance operations are ongoing in the «Durnyak» area.

On the north-eastern flank, assault units advanced south of Rodynske. After dislodging Ukrainian forces from the surrounding farmland, they cut off the northern Ukrainian logistics route — the T-05-15 road from Dobropillya. The northern route from Hirshyne is also under fire. Recognizing the threat, the Ukrainian command is attempting to hold the crossroads and is counterattacking.

Kharkiv Direction:

Russian sources are reporting successful operations by their reconnaissance units. In the Kharkiv region, an FPV drone operator reportedly destroyed two pickup trucks carrying Ukrainian Armed Forces infantry, disrupting an attempt to rotate Ukrainian units.

Tensions persist near Vovchansk, where fighting is reportedly taking place near the railway junction and a bakery, according to Russian reports. In the Kupyansk area, Russian troops are reportedly threatening to encircle the Ukrainian garrison in central Kupyansk, according to some sources.

Druzhkivka Direction:

According to information from the Russian command, the initiative in the Dobropillya salient has returned to Russian forces following the repelling of counterattacks. Russian units report having established full control over the Pankivka settlement and having made progress in the northern and southern parts of Vladimirovka.

According to Russian command statements, the advance southeast of the ponds from Popov Yar and along the road to Oktyabrskoye (Shakhove) has created a threat of encirclement for Ukrainian units in and southeast of Vladimirovka. Fierce engagements continue in the Gruzke-Zelyonyi Kolodyaz area.

On the Kharkiv axis, Russian sources report successful actions by their reconnaissance units. It is reported that an FPV drone operator in the Kharkiv region destroyed two pickup trucks carrying Ukrainian infantry, disrupting an attempt by a Ukrainian unit to rotate its forces.

There are pockets of tension remaining in the Vovchansk area, where fighting is ongoing near the railway junction and the bread factory, according to Russian data. On the Kupyansk axis, some sources claim that Russian troops are threatening to encircle the Ukrainian garrison in Kupyansk city center.

Zaporizhzhia Direction:

Units of the 5th Army of the «Vostok» grouping continued their systematic offensive and achieved tactical successes.

Russian units advanced along the tree lines from Novoivanivka towards Uspenivka, and in the area of the highway. Following the offensive on 7 October, the settlement of Novovasilyevske on the right bank of the Yanchul River was captured. This enabled them to reach the outskirts of Uspenivka, which is located on the opposite bank of the river, and establish a bridgehead for further advances. The push towards Novomykolaivka continues.

Further south, Ukrainian forces retain control only over part of Novomykolaivka and Okhotnyche, as well as strongpoints on the second defensive line between the two settlements. Fierce battles are underway for these positions. South of Novohryhorivka, Russian units are attacking farms from the direction of the highway and the settlement itself.

North of Stepove and Verbove, Russian units broke into the southern part of Oleksiyivka following fire strikes and have begun fighting for the village. The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched two unsuccessful counterattacks from the direction of Oleksiyivka using the 17th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Dnipro Direction:

Offensive operations continue at the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Following fire strikes on 7 October, Russian units broke into the southern part of Oleksiyivka and began fighting for the village.

In turn, the Ukrainian side reports successful counterattacks. According to some reports, Ukrainian forces have recaptured several villages in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Kursk Direction:

On the Tetkino axis in the Kursk region, there have been signs of increased activity by Ukrainian units. Combat continues in the forested area north of the Ryzhevka settlement, with identified positions being destroyed. Further east, in the Bessalovka area, the standoff continues on the northwest border of Iskriskovskshchina. Units of the 24th Separate Assault Brigade ‘Aidar’ have periodically attempted to advance towards the western outskirts of Bessalovka, but have so far been unsuccessful. Furthermore, several small groups have been redeployed from Iskriskovskshchina to the Volfino area.

There has also been activity in the area around the Novy Shlyakh settlement in the Glushkovsky district, where units of the 17th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade (Kryvyi Rih) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attempted to advance into the border zone several times. Russian units are countering the advance using FPV drones in the tree lines. It is reported that one of the Ukrainian assault groups was withdrawn to Pavlovka due to losses incurred.

Kostiantynivka Direction:

Units of the «South» grouping have built on their success and are continuing to put pressure on Ukrainian defenses.

Russian units have taken full control of the settlement of Kleban-Byk. Attacks are currently underway on the dam and the surrounding area on the southern shore of the reservoir in order to completely block the Ukrainian forces in the eastern part. At the same time, Ukrainian forces are being pushed out from the tree lines to the south of the reservoir.

On the western bank of the reservoir, assault groups have reached the car park with the so-called ‘dinosaurs’ (likely industrial equipment). Ukrainian units continue to hold strongpoints to the north, in the area of the settling ponds, and to the east on the slopes. In this area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Northeast of the reservoir, fighting continues for the southern part of Pleshcheyevka. Further east, along the banks of the Krivoy Torets River and the T-05-16 road, Ukrainian forces have advanced after being dislodged from a strongpoint near farms on the outskirts of Ivanopillya. Fighting also continues along the tree line of the railway between Ivanopillya and Oleksandro-Shultyne, in the area of the dacha cooperative and Predtechino. Clearing operations are underway in the Osykove area.

Conclusion

As of 7 October 2025, the operational situation is characterized by sustained high-intensity hostilities on most fronts, particularly in the Pokrovsk area. The Russian armed forces are maintaining the tactical initiative in several key sectors, advancing methodically in urban terrain and attempting to threaten Ukrainian forces with encirclement.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have demonstrated their ability to defend flexibly, engage in urban combat and launch counterattacks. Notably, the Ukrainian side claimed to have destroyed a Russian ‘Kurier’ ground robotic complex near Pokrovsk for the first time, indicating the evolving and increasingly complex nature of warfare.

Amid the ongoing hostilities, a new diplomatic scandal is unfolding on the geopolitical stage. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has publicly accused the Ukrainian authorities of interfering in Hungary’s upcoming 2026 parliamentary elections. He claims that Kyiv is seeking to influence the outcome of the election and bring the Hungarian opposition to power. Unlike the current government, the opposition would support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Szijjártó described such interference as «unsurprising», stating that Budapest believes that Ukraine will not become an EU member with the national government in power, but that a «puppet government of Brussels» would remove all obstacles on Kyiv’s path into Euro-structures.
