While the conflict between the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) in northern Syria has partly de-escalated, it has appeared that the tensions are growing in Idlib province in northwestern Syria, the area of al-Safa in southern Syria and the Euphrates Valely in eastern Syria.
- On November 11, the SDF declared that it had reseumed the military operation against ISIS in the area of Hajin in the Euphrates Valley. This operation was previously halted on October 31 after the TAF had carried out strikes on SDF positions near Kobani. However, despite the November 11 SDF declaration, no significant SDF attempts to advance on ISIS positions in Hajin have been reported so far.
- The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is developing its push to eliminate ISIS terrorists in the area of al-Safa in southern Syria. Recently, the SAA has deployed reinforcements on this front in order to intensify its anti-ISIS operation.
- The situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone is slowly deteriorating. Over the past few days, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Turkistan Islamic Party and other “democratic opposition groups” have repeatedly violated the ceasefire regime claiming that it has been a response to actions of the SAA.
