Following the US destroyer Laboon, which entered the Black Sea on June 11, the British destroyer and the Dutch frigate crossed the Turkish straits. The Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy is tracking the actions of the ships of the NATO member states.
On June 14, the Type 45 destroyer Defender together with Dutch frigate HNLMS Evertsen entered the Black Sea, according to the statement of the National Center for Defense Control of the Russian Federation.
“The forces and means of the Black Sea Fleet have begun to control the actions of the destroyer ” Defender “of the British Navy and the frigate ” Evertsen “of the Navy of the Netherlands, which entered the Black Sea on June 14, 2021,” the statement reads.
Defender and Evertsen reportedly departed from the Greek naval base in the Gulf of Souda on June 6. Their arrival to the Ukrainian port of Odessa should be expected in coming days.
The British missile destroyer and Dutch frigate are part of the multipurpose aircraft carrier group (AMG) led by the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth of the British Royal Navy.
After having completed training in Operation Sea Guardian, NATO’s mission in the Mediterranean to deter and counter terrorism, Defender left to Istanbul, where it was hosting representatives from the Turkish government, business world, armed forces and defense sector, according to the reports by Royal Navy.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian media report that the NATO members are sending ships to the Black Sea in order to “protect Ukraine from Russian aggression.”
However, until there are no signs of aggression from the Russian side, Kiev is preparing to take part in joint NATO exercises Sea Breeze 2021. The naval drills should take part this summer in the Black Sea region and should involve 4,000 military personnel, 40 warships, boats and auxiliary vessels, 30 aircraft and helicopters and more than 100 units of cars and armored vehicles from 29 NATO states.

It always makes me laugh to watch the US and NATO poorly attempting to huff and puff in the Black Sea. It’s like watching a few puppies yapping while the big dog is watching. It’s just a show for all and nothing more to demonstrate that they have Ukraine’s back while at the same time, constantly backstabbing them.
It must be scary for the US and Dutch navy to be in an area where dangerous tankers are around. :-)
