The Royal Navy will have a regular presence in the Arctic Circle to ‘defend’ trade routes from the Russians that gain ‘strategic advantage’ as the ice caps melt, The Times reported on March 10 citing own ‘sources’.
“A frigate will join a multinational task force in the Barents Sea in the coming months amid concerns that climate change could see Moscow establish control over polar regions,” the British propaganda outlet (no different from other MSM) claimed in its article.
NATO member states, first of all the United States, have been declaring their aim to make an attempt to dictate their own rules in Russian territorial waters in the Arctic for years. These aggressive intentions increased recently.
The only problem is that these ‘democratic powers’ have almost no real capability to do this due to the lack of technologies and weak icebreaking fleets. So, now, they hope on the ‘global warming’ to open opportunities for their further aggressive actions.

The Royal Navy barely has the funds to have a regular presence outside of Portsmouth harbor let alone somewhere where it can’t really operate.
They can deploy 3 destroyers (type 45) and 7 frigates (type 23). The main armament of each ship is still the subsonic harpoon ASM from the 70s with a range of only 120 kms (8 missiles on each ship). They talk big but in reality they are pathetic.
