Deputies of Bundestag submitted a question to the federal government of Chancellor Angela Merkel whether it is appropriate to invite representatives of the Montenegrin Government to informal EU meetings, bearing in mind the information about the involvement of the Montenegrin authorities in organized crime.
Ministers Sevim Dagdelen, Heike Hensel, Wolfgang Gehrcke, Aneta Grot, Inge Hoeger, Andrej Hunko, Niema Movassat and others from the club of parliamentarians Die Linke asked questions to the recent violent protests in Podgorica.
In the accompanying text, they pointed out that there are constant demonstrations against the government of Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic since the end of September.
“Several hundred protesters placed tents in the city center. About 400 demonstrators spent the first evening on the street in Podgorica. Demonstrations in the Montenegrin capital were aimed also corruption and electoral manipulation in the country. The opposition demands for early elections. The Government of Montenegro, according to the protesters, is the only one in Europe that has never been replaced through democratic elections”, the German deputies stated in the introductory text with 24 questions for the federal government in Berlin.

They explained how in mid-September, majority in Parliament voted for the resolution about the accession to NATO, and that government does not want to organize referendum on this important question.

“According to poll results, 36 percent of citizens support NATO membership, 37 percent are against and 26 percent are undecided”, members of Die Linke club pointed out.
They also asked “has the initial suspicion that the persons from direct personal environment of Milo Djukanovic were related to cigarette smuggling through Montenegro from 1993 to 2005. turned out to be true.”
