Nothing new- been in service since 2002, improved ballistics and range, transportable in C-130, otherwise no big deal
French equipment is expensive and useless. India made the mistake of buying AMX-13 tanks and they all failed. The Mirage 2000 have not done well against Pakistani JF-17 Thunders either. Russian hardware is ideal for India or any nation.
Mirage 2000 is the backbone of IAF strike force and is what saved India in the Kargil war. not to mention the anglo french Jaguar. In contrast IAF is always complaining how hard it is to keep Russian su30 and mig29 airworthy. expensive and scarce spares and lots of maintenance needed for the russian jets just to keep them operating. Yes French stuff is expensive, and i don’t know much about amx story, but i know without the Mirage india would not have won Kargil showdown. by the way even the recent strikes against the terror camps in balakot were done using the Mirages if I am not wrong. ask yourself why they did not use the sukhois
