The Central African Armed Forces (CAAF) have captured another town on the strategic Bangui-Beloko highway, which links the Central African Republic (CAR) with Cameroon.
Backed by Russian military advisors and Rwandan troops, the CAAF imposed control of Bouar, a small market town located near the western border with Cameroon, on February 9.
CAR Government spokesman Ange Maxime Kazagui told Reuters that the army and its Rwandan and Russian allies entered Bouar in the morning as the rebels fled without a fight.

According to the spokesman, the CAAF and its allies are now working to fully secure the 440 km of roadway between Bouar and the capital, Bangui. The rebels blocked the highway, halting food imports from Cameroon, for several weeks. A number of aid trucks were able to reach Bangui on February 8.
“The goal is to dislodge all the armed groups in a sustainable way,” Kazagui said.
On February 8, the CAAF, backed by its Russian and Rawandan allies, captured the towns of Bossembele and Yaloke from the rebels.
Nearly two thirds of the CAR are in the hands of rebels fighting for the National Patriotic Coalition. The coalition aims to overthrow President Faustin-Archange Touadera, who was reelected last December.
The conflict between the CAR Government and the rebels, which will not likely end anytime soon, has forced more than 200,000 civilians to flee their homes.

I’m surprised the Chinese aren’t helping like the Russians are. Yes, there’s financial support but some times the big stick needs to be used.
China is pulling financial strings always….investments, major construction projects and such…Like everywhere else in Africa. While Russia is more on muscular side in “defense department”. That’s how they share their roles in that game…To compete with the west in their presence in Africa.
