Car Bomb Explosion Rocks Syria’s Qamishli Amid Turkish Attack (Video)

A booby-trapped car exploded in the afternoon of October 11 in the northern Syrian city of Qamishli on the border with Turkey.

According to the Hawar News Agency (ANHA), the explosion took place near al-Omari restaurant in Munir Habibi street in the city’s center.

“According to the initial information obtained by our correspondent, the explosion resulted in the death of a civilian and the injury of three others,” the news agency reported.

Qamishli’s city center is controlled by the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). However, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) maintains key positions, including the border crossing north of the city and the airport to the west of it.

Two days ago, the Turkish military began shelling the city in the framework of Operation Peace Spring. So far, several civilians, including children, have been killed or injured.

Local activists believe that ISIS was behind the car bomb attack. Some activists said that the terrorist group is taking advantage of the Turkish attack to reactivate its cells inside the border city.

Always wondered how the SAA maintained their positions within the Kurds areas if their was total animosity between them? For the Turks to overrun those places seems unlikely. I am sure someone can shed some light on this situation. Thanks

I understand that the Syrian authotities and SAA have a localized truce with SDF to avoid conflict across the Qamishli district – Turkey will only target SDF/YPG fixed positions, meantime:: The current Limit of Advance (LOA) for the regular Turkish forces (TSA) is set at the M4 Highway running East-West from Manbij City to Qamishli. This includes the main SDF base at Ayn Issa, but Qamishli city district will remain Syrian. The plan is to repopulate areas vacated by Kurds with displaced and families of the 30 assorted jihadi groups forming the Turkish proxy Syrian National Army, (

exactly as in Afrin and northern Aleppo province. Rinse and repeat. Ignore US and NATO bluff and bluster, this is by agreement.
