The confrontation began on June 24th, with a truck with seven dead bodies being discovered initially, and hours later, after a persecution and new exchanges of fire, “nine more bodies were located,” said Cristóbal Castañeda, secretary of Sinaloa security.
The official noted that this confrontation is part of “a fight between two gangs of organized crime in the area,” where since May 29th there have been eight other armed confrontations that had left no victims.
Forty large-caliber weapons, ten grenades, more than 36,000 cartridges and 24 vehicles have also been seized, Castañeda said.
The victims are men between the ages of 20 and 50 and seven of them have been identified as residents of Tepuche. Bodies located in the van wore tactical clothing, such as bulletproof vests
