Ceasefire Broken in Libya, as Thousands of ISIS Militants Are Transferred to the Country

On January 14th, Aguila Saleh Issa, President of the Libyan House of Representatives, announced that the Russia-Turkish brokered ceasefire in Libya has fallen through.

The UN-assigned Government of National Accord’s (GNA) head Fayez al-Sarraj and the Libyan National Army (LNA) commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar were in Moscow to negotiate the terms of the ceasefire.

However, Haftar departed Russia without signing the deal, saying that its terms were unacceptable for the LNA and the democratically elected House of Representatives.

Haftar furthermore said that according to him, the only acceptable outcome would be if the militias under the GNA hand over their arms within 45 or 90 days, and that is how a ceasefire would be reached.

In addition, he demanded that this process take place under the full control of the LNA, which plans to create a special commission together with the UN, which will take into account the collection of arms from the militia members.

Among other things, according to the channel, Haftar completely rejected Turkey as an international mediator in the Libyan settlement.

“He insists that the intermediary states be neutral and proceed from the need to maintain stability in Libya, and not support the armed police or send extremists [to Libya,” TASS reported.

A source in the GNA, cited by Turkish state outlet Anadolu Agency, said that the LNA was amassing forces, once again, to renew the offensive on Tripoli.

“Haftar’s army is drawing up forces south of Tripoli to stage another attack,” the source was quoted as saying.

On the side of the GNA, President of the council Fayez al-Sarraj returned to Libya and said that the UN-assigned government would act with all of its forces and representatives, be it in peace or war.

Egypt is currently carrying out the Qader 2020 military exercise, which is regarded as a sort of show of force against Turkey’s involvement in the Libyan conflict.

On the ground in Libya, the LNA said that it had repaired 3 MiG-23 fighter jets and they are re-entering service in the fight against the GNA.

Any new weapons, or repaired old ones would be welcome, sine the King of Jordan warned that thousands of ISIS fighters have left Idlib, through Turkey to join the fight in support of the GNA.

It comes down to speculation, but it could also be that Turkey expected for Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to reject the ceasefire, but simply wanted to win some time to deploy more militants to Libya, to fight on behalf of the GNA.

Well that explains why Syria are winning…

Spot on! Indeed this week alone, Putin said he wants to create a greater economic pact with Israel. He even released a video of his romantic dance with Bush – the murderer of 2.5 million Iraqis. He’s a zionist and he is only “winning” in Syria so much as to control his interest, rather then protect it, hence the co-ordinated Israel attacks!

Putin is an Israeli puppet

War suck,If I’m the Syrian government,I could give no cares or what Turkey do in Libya. I would welcome all his proxy militia leaves Syrian for Libya since Libya is more profitable for them with oil and gas.

Maybe that anti social mindset is one of the reasons why you in Africa are still stuck in tribal and ethnic hatered and violence.. And a reason why imperialists like US can play you out against each other.

Divide and conquer. Works perfect for cultures of your mindset.

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

Why? If ISIS get strong in libya, they will just attack syria again later on down the road.

and terrorists trained under the SDF banner will be deployed to fight under ISIS/al qaeda flags

Erdogan is trying to survive same as everybody who runs into the USA Military Industrial Complex.

if it is turkey or syriqa, he chooses syria, if its libya or turkey, he will choose to have the fight in libya

he expands influence while at the same time Trueky grows away from USA influence

Rascal general Haftar realised that Putin “put out” of the LNA & “put in” to the GNA, in order to protect Turkstream & Northstream gas pipelines to the Europe, from the competitive Israeli-South Cyprus-Greece pipeline project. If LNA attacks to the UN recognized govt. Putin will probably backstab them in the battlefield. Egypt & UAE are just pawns of Israel & has no effect in the game. Israel is the brain behind those pawns drawing them to the battlefield.

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

Haftar made the right choice

Putin wont force him to sign the deal

after soleimani i would imagine going to any talks about deescalation would be a bit nerve wracking, this guy held his nerve it seems

I’ve tried to stay on top of the GNA / LNA divisions but I find it extremely difficult to equate at times, given the militas involved and their previous loyalties. The outside states and players that are getting involved have preferences for particular factions also that are contradictory to other positions they hold.

Ronald

Its not that complicated at present. The GNA is backed by the Muslim Brotherhood of Turkey, Qatar, and possibly Italy. ISIS is another Salafist, jihadist party, so Erdogan has hired them.

The LNA, Haftar represents the elected Libyan government that fled to Tubruk when the Islamic’s seized Tripoli. They are backed by Egypt, UAE, France Greece and possibly Jordan.

UAE have also attacked saudi backed ‘allies’ in yemen. They got their fingers in the pie, but they dont like to get their hands too dirty
