Central Syria: 25 Soldiers Wounded Or Killed In Bold ISIS Attack

On January 2, 25 soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were killed or wounded when ISIS terrorists attacked a bus that was transporting them in the central region.

A military source told the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency that ISIS terrorists attacked the bus with rocket propelled grenades and 23 mm machine guns as it was passing near the T3 station in the eastern countryside of Homs.

“As a result of this terrorist attack, five soldiers were killed and 20 others were wounded,” the unnamed source said.

Russian warplanes have been pounding ISIS hideouts in central Syria for the last two weeks. This didn’t apparently deter the terrorist group.

The SAA and its allies are already preparing to take more serious measures to secure the central region. According to a recent report by the London-based Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, a Russian-backed large-scale operation against ISIS cells in the region will start soon.

The T3 bus attack was ISIS’ deadliest attack in Syria this year. The terrorist group is clearly planning to escalate its operations in the central region.
