ISIS cells continue to launch attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies in Syria’s central region, where a vast desert is located.

On June 10, two Syrian service members were killed near the town of Resafa in southern Raqqa when an improvised explosive device (IED), which had been planted by the terrorist group, blew up. The service members were taking part in a combing operation in the region.

A day earlier, ISIS terrorists targeted a bus carrying SAA soldiers on a road near the town of al-Salamiyah in eastern Hama with an IED. Two soldiers were killed and 13 others were wounded as a result of the attack.

ISIS cells have been working to expand their influence in central Syria for nearly two years now. The SAA and its allies are making immense effort to counter this threat.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out more than 38 airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the central region over the last 24 hours.

“Four Russian warplanes are taking turns bombing the Syrian desert,” the monitoring group said in a report.

Despite ISIS recent attacks, the situation in central Syria is still under control. All urban centers and key roads in the region are safe and secured.
