China has called for an immediate stop to the deployment of the US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system to South Korea.
“China’s position on the THAAD issue has not changed,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang said. “We oppose the deployment of the US missile system to South Korea and call on all parties to immediately stop this process. We are ready to take necessary measures to protect our interests.”
The spokesman didn’t say what kind of “measures” Beijing is going to implement.
The THAAD missile system is designed to intercept warheads of ballistic missiles at the end of the mid-course phase and during the approach to the target. The THAAD protects cities and facilities from ballistic missiles.
Seoul and Washington agreed on the THAAD deployment in July 2016. A pretext of the move is a nuclear missile threat from North Korea.

You are correct, China is bidding its time to strengthen militarily, they need to be able to defend their shipping lanes from the Indian Ocean to South China Sea. Russia can do the same, asking for rubles for the gas and oil they sell to Europe.
I reckon that actually what would make the US declare nuclear war to the world would be an economic partnership between the EU and Russia where energy products are traded in Euros.

I had a 35 year career as a contractor in commercial construction. I worked on bids and proposals for businesses and developers every day. If that display is part of his negotiating tactic then the USA is going to lose every time. The bare costs of completing a project are the same regardless who you are bidding for. Once an estimate is completed and slept over but before you fill in the bottom line you consider risk. One of those risks is dealing with assholes. No one wants to deal with an asshole…..you want to deal with stable consistent partners who pay what the owe on time as per the deal you agreed on. The bigger the asshole, the greater the risk…..the greater the risk, the more money you want to make putting up with them worthwhile.

These types are lawyered up to the max, so if they take them to court they will spend a lot of money in the court system without much success.
