China has eliminated 1,588 terrorists and arrested nearly 12,995 people over terrorism-linked charges in Xinjiang since 2014, the government said in an official report released on March 19.
The document says that authorities have “destroyed 1,588 violent and terrorist gangs, arrested 12,995 terrorists, seized 2,052 explosive devices, punished 30,645 people for 4,858 illegal religious activities, and confiscated 345,229 copies of illegal religious materials”.
Additionally, the report gave a breakdown of 30 attacks since 1990, with the last one recorded in December 2016, saying 458 people had died and at least 2,540 were wounded as a consequence of attacks and other unrest.
Another thing adressed by the report is the so-called detention camps issue. The government describes the camps as re-education and training facilities, and says they allow to prevent radicalization. According to the report, the people placed in the camp are:
- People, who have been unintentionally involved in terror-related activity;
- People, who have participated in terror-related activity, but their actions have not led to casualties or real impact. These persons ‘voluntarily’ agreed to participate in the re-education course;
- People, who have already completed their sentense over terrorism-related charges, but remain ‘dangerous’ for the society.
The US-led bloc and mainstream media say they are internment camps.

I don’t trust the Chinese media when it comes to counter-terrorism. If I was an Uyghur I think I’d tend to be a terrorist too. Having your entire identity denied for a long period will do that to you.
They are like the Kurds and Rohingya, nobody forced them to join Americas war of terror. Until they joined the Americans they lived in peace.
It is good to distrust any media – however, even the lying mass media will use the truth if it serves their purposes.

Because they have an agenda. So does RT, to promote Russian interests, but is much more restrained and reasonable.
The article talks about 1990 but I think the problum only began with the Arab Spring and this was proven when Idlib fell to the Turkish Islamic Party, April -to- June 2015, there was a disproportionate amount of both Chechens and Uyugurs, which is ironic because the world “Yugur” means “wealth and stability” and attacking Syria represented “poverty and anarchy”.
Only one thing saved Syria from that al-Qaeda, Mossad, CIA, MI6, and French DGSE strategy and that was Brother Baghdadi’s ISIL splitting the Idlib Offensive with his Caliphate initiative that was a Divine Inspiration because it worked, “who would have known what was coming in June 2014 when Brother Baghdadi broke with the Obama and went his own way ?.”
Uyghurs have Turkic and Mongolian origins and are now under pressure from the Han Chinese because Xinjiang is a critical part of the China’s new silk road, known as Belt and Road Initiative joining all the Stan Countries, India Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Africa through the traditional Uyghurs home lands.
So Belt and Road represents a challenge to US hegemony and suppression of Muslims, the Uyghurs have to recognise that this is the Will of Allah and work with Han Chinese.
There was a recruitment campaign in Xinjiang began 2006 as a component of israels invasion of Lebanon.
However many Uyghur survivors have come over to to support the Turkish Militias and many have returned home, true enough, some are doing a bit of reeducation, beards are banned for young men one thing and another but considering the recent history alls’ well that ends well and comparatively peacefully.
They talk about 1990 because since the Tiananmen Square non-massacre event the Chinese government has known that they face foreign financed insurgencies on their soil. It is only slightly less recent that CIA chose to use the islamic radicalisation as the major thrust in these operations against China.
