Visitors of the 11th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai, for the first time ever, will have a chance to see the most modern combat helicopter of the Air Force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) – the Z-10K, Chinese media reported. The new helicopter’s modification, taken in service in 2014, was developed in the end of 2011.

The Z-10K became the first helicopter, where a crew is placed in a tandem. An armored cab and a body of the helicopter provide safety of pilots. Through the use of the stealth technology, the helicopter is almost ‘invisible’ for a potential enemy, the Sina Cinven informational website reported.

Reportedly, the Russia’s Kamov Experimental Design Bureau was engaged in developing of the helicopter. According to unconfirmed data, the Chinese government made an order for creation of the new attack helicopter in 1995.

The Z-10K is capable to speed up to 300 km/h and to rise to a height up of 6,400 meters. The combat load is about 1,500 kg. The helicopter is capable to carry air-to-surface and air-to-air missiles.

Citing an anonymous source in the Chinese Defense Ministry, local media reported about a large-scale re-equipment of the PLA Air Force’s units with the CAIC WZ-10 new attack helicopters.

Another cheap clone of someone else’s work. If you are not leading, you’re following. Paper Tiger China follows.

Cine

Actually it’s an original design by Kamov design bureau of Russia under a contract with the Chinese government. Have a look at the wikipedia on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAIC_Z-10

In this case, if they didnt steal anothers ideas, they are hiring someone else to have ideas, because they simply cant have none…

Ted

“cant have none” implies the opposite of what you attempt to suggest. The idea that China is devoid of ideas is not original. Perhaps it is time to come up with your own opinions?

John Whitehot

idk. to me it seems very similar to the european tiger and the south african (can’t remember how it’s called). The design does not look from Kamov or any other russian helicopter producer at all. But maybe kamov designed it under some particular specifications by the chinese.

Yeah, don’t you like it when people just dismiss something offhand without giving any proof or justification for their claim? “Cheap clone”. I’ll bet it’s anything but cheap. I read a comment some other guy left in another article about this helicopter that went, “I bet my cheap drone could shoot (or bring) this thing down”! Uh huh. And I’ll bet any amount of money it won’t! Anybody cover? Anybody willing to put their money where their mouth is? I am! From what I’ve read about these helicopters, they’re no slouches.

And maybe the guy who claimed that they were “cheap clones” might be interested in knowing that the engine control software was supplied by the U.S.(even though it was illegal to do so) plus, the engines are built without any outside help.

Nice looking chopper, I wouldn’t like to be on the receiving end.

“Through the use of the stealth technology, the helicopter is almost ‘invisible’ for a potential enemy”

That was good for a chuckle. Maybe it’s almost invisible to Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. “Stealth” is the overused word of the decade like “Extreme” was in the 90s.
