On July 3, China launched two Type 055 guided missile destroyers from their dry docks in Dalian, Liaoning province, the Chinese media says.
Type 055 class vessels are designed for long-range air defense, anti-surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare. This kind of warships could accompany future carrier strike groups of China, which continues to expand its carrier program.
The destroyers launched in July follow two others launched in May 2018 and June 2017 respectively. China has a total of six Type 055 guided missile destroyers in various stages of construction, which the lastest launched in March 2018.
The People’s Liberation Army Navy is going to get at least Type 055 destroyers in the coming years.

It’s a decent copycat of US Arleigh-Burke Destroyers, but this is one of many similar designs because of China’s internal issues. Generally ships are designed, built, commissioned, and operated from a single all-in-one naval base. This is chronic hassle because if things like spare parts and training of crews due to lack of uniformity between ships.

I don’t see how it could be all the things you say, and China’s behindness is the product of geographic and social issues. There is a chronic lack of accountability at every level of society. You hear of the things Chinese factories get away with when making our consumer goods? Apply that to military, police, government, traffic, environmental protection, and everything else. The reason every piece of the ship is made in one location is because in instances where several companies cooperate, like in the failed engines for the J-20, everyone cuts corners and takes second helpings. Before comparing this to anywhere else consider the end results inside various states.
For “behindness”, try the USS Zumwalt that was towed back to port after breaking down in the Panama canal, or the multiple collisions between US warships and cargo vessels in the SC Sea. Or the 3rd world railways in the U.S. collapsing, bird poop.

the Chinese Type 052D is more comparable to the Arleigh-Burke Destroyers, but the Type 055 completely surpass the Arleigh-Burke Destroyers, only lacking in ABM capabilities by a little.
