China-Taiwan: Political Developments, Military Drills, Forecasts

Tensions in the Asia-Pacific region are gaining momentum and this is dictated by the active policy of all states in the region.

From May 6 to 8, China conducted military drills east and southwest of Taiwan. The PLA air, naval and ground forces took part in the exercise. The PRC soldiers used fighters, destroyers, frigates and bombers in the exercise. The main objective was to improve the combat readiness of the troops.

The exercise took place in light of the visits of six U.S. congressmen to Taiwan in April of this year. China perceived these visits as a “deliberate provocation”. China’s Foreign Ministry has long stated that such visits contribute to increased instability in the Taiwan Strait.

In turn, on May 17, Taiwan began its annual exercise. These exercises were aimed at defending against a possible attack from the Chinese side. This exercise was only the first phase, and it lasted five days. The program included cartographic exercises, as well as a series of military drills. This decision was made due to the fact that during the exercises of the PRC Chinese aircraft carrier “Liaoning” led a fairly large strike group of Chinese ships. A spokesman for the Taiwan’s defense ministry said, “All assigned military personnel from different military districts must report to their command centers for mapping exercises.” Taiwan’s air force and navy were involved. The second part of the exercise, which includes a live-fire exercise based on simulation analysis, will be conducted on July 25, also over five days.

Taiwan’s National Security Bureau fears that Beijing could take advantage of the Ukraine crisis to increase its military presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

On May 21, China invited Kiribati to sign a similar act as it had done with the Solomon Islands. Kiribati again recognized China’s ownership of Taiwan. The U.S. State Department did not rule out that China would negotiate with Tonga and Vanuatu to sign a security agreement. Thus, China wants to establish a number of military bases in the Pacific region.

On May 22, two Chinese PLA ships of the Chinese Navy, Xuzhou and Handan, sailed into the Sea of Japan through the Tsushima Straits. The exercise may have been conducted jointly with the Russian Navy. On May 19, Russian and Chinese ships conducted joint exercises southeast of Okinawa.

On May 23, military exercises were held in China’s Fujian Province in southern China. The 73rd PLA Airborne Brigade practiced landing operations on the seashore.

Meanwhile, the PRC is actively building military infrastructure on one of the man-made islands in the area of Subi Reef in the Spratly archipelago. This territory is contested by six states: Vietnam, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Brunei.

On May 24, Biden announced the US readiness, if necessary, to enter into a military conflict with China to protect Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry protested to the US. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a briefing, “China expresses its acute dissatisfaction and strong protest in connection with the statement of the U.S. side. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory.”

However, the U.S. Foreign Ministry continues to say that it supports the one-China principle. The U.S. reiterates that it is guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, three joint communiqués, and six credentials.

Tensions in the Asia-Pacific region are rising, as evidenced by military exercises by China and Taiwan, China’s construction of military infrastructure in the South China Sea and attempts to sign security agreements with small island states. The PRC is preparing for changes in the region, as Japan’s new prime minister has actively begun to promote American interests. That is why China is trying to secure itself and not allow its plans to be implemented by the Japanese-American side.

Only the western Military Industrial Complexes led by the USSA and UK want a war in Taiwan to distract from their failures in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Syria. Russian hypersonic missile technology has been shared with China. The US Navy is a sitting duck.

The Taiwanese are historically Han Chinese and do not want war with mainland China. The Taiwanese speak the same language, eat the same foods, share the same history and culture, and have many cross border business relationships. I met a retired Captain in the Taiwan Marines one year ago and asked him about the situation in Taiwan with regards to a war with China. He told me that ONLY the USSA is pushing for war and if it came to war Taiwan would last about 3 hours that would end with an overwhelming mainland China win.

The West is going the way of the dodo bird as Russian and China rise. Welcome to the Multi-Polar World.

Remember, ALL WARS ARE BANKER WARS. Western led banks have been losing significant market share. 4 of the top 10 banks in the world are Chinese. Hence, the lip flapping and chest beating by the western-owned puppet governments. I wonder how many of you have any understanding of the AIIB, BRICS, CPEC, NDB, the BRI (land and maritime), or the BIS.

I forgot the mention CIPS and SGE. If you don’t know anything about these organizations, then you have a lot of homework to do.

BTW, Switzerland is Mordor.

There will be clear indications from China when that is going to happen. They are conducting stress test to simulate similar sanctions West put on Russia. Current main worry is what to do with their 3 trillion USD reserves. The day they decide to swap major part of that for Gold or other reserves, you have an indication right there.

IMO, the time line will be the US elections (2022 and 2024) as the Republicans is expected to win by a landslide.

Ivan Freely

The Chinese prefer to win the war first before fighting it. But, given how The Empire is behaving, they’re probably have no choice but to act similar to Russia. Time will tell.

Uhmm, SF don’t like chinese. Interesting. More, has even recognized the Changs rebels as an state.

Fuck the Chinese. Those cowards should’ve kept their mouths shut if they can’t back them up.

JHKdad

The low life coward Chinese keep crying and whining. They’ve been letting the US play them like a little bitch. Worst of all, they keep holding onto the dollar while the US keep printing them in trillions. How utterly stupid can they be?

China should of course be working on taking over Taiwan by influencing their government, buying their media and any companies in Taiwan. Ideally work to get a usurper in there to takeover and hand Taiwan over to China without firing a shot. At the same time they should be working on the largest cannons feasible, like the supergun devised by Gerald Bull, able to shell across the Taiwan straights, ideally able to send a one ton shell (rocket assisted if necessary) to all of the Taiwan mainland. The Germans had what was known as the Paris gun back in WW I, it should be no problem for the Chinese to develop and deploy long range artillery for Taiwan.

I’m sure the mainland Chinese have been working on that but, there are counter moves from Japan and the US.

What a mess. Taiwan is highly advanced economically unlike Ukraine. China was in no rush toward eventual control. Now “Joe Biden” is pushing them into a conflict. There is no reason other than pure insanity behind these people.

Correct. However, the expected collapse of the US dollar and hubris is driving all this insanity.

Russia and China barely got out of their diapers and are already starting wars. And you have anti-USA morons out there (or, on here) cheering for a multi-polar world. While the US was the only great power the world was more or less at peace. Now with Russia and China starting wars, chances for a world-war sized conflict are higher than ever. That’s multi-polar world for you, morons. Hope you like it.

“While the US was the only great power the world was more or less at peace.”

ROFL Ah…NO! Over 80% of the wars fought post-WW2 had US fingerprints all over it. It doesn’t take much effort to find that list on Google. SMH.

Richard Hab

Your claims are nonsense, the USA and UK has conducted war after war on so many countries, totally evil.

Richard Hab

I lived for 4 years in Taiwan and 8 years in China. Free from the brainwashing of UK media I was able to think clearly. Historically Taiwan is part of China. This is an undeniable fact, to argue against this fact just shows total ignorance. Chang Kia fled to Taiwan because he knew it is a Chinese island so he took his soldiers and so much of China’s treasure to the island. . Remove the Taiwanese politicians put into power by USA banksters-criminals and corrupted politicians, let the people in Taiwan integrate and talk with the Chinese and the falsely created differences will fade away. When I lived in both I noticed that there is no difference between the people in Taiwan and China, they are one and the same. Any existing differences are results of brainwashing targeted at Taiwan by the USA and UK.
