Tensions spiked in the South China Sea and near Taiwan over this past weekend and have continued boiling since, after Chinese PLA aircraft made repeat in incursions into Taiwan’s claimed airspace. In response Taiwan’s Air Force scrambled jets in its own ‘show of strength’ deterrence message, and with the US aircraft carrier USS Roosevelt in the region, China’s Defense Ministry subsequently warned Taipei on Thursday that “independence means war”.
A new report in FT that broke overnight now reveals that the Sunday incident was even more alarming for the prospect of direct conflict than previously thought. FT cites unnamed intelligence sources to report that “Chinese military aircraft simulated missile attacks on a nearby US aircraft carrier during an incursion into Taiwan’s air defense zone three days after Joe Biden’s inauguration, according to intelligence from the US and its allies.”

The cornerstone of “united” states international power projection is the aircraft carrier. But these expensive behemoths are exceptionally vulnerable to a saturation attack by anti-ship missiles. Once one of these aircraft carrier is sunk or heavily damaged by this means, then “united” states power projection abroad will collapse. The Chinese are well aware of this and so are the “united” states admirals with their shiny Annapolis rings, sleek lieutenant coffee boys and cushy careers.
Chinese bombers need practice, nothing wrong with that.
US shouldn’t be worried too much….in real life situation it will not hurt lot and it will be over very quickly.
They will disappear under the water… like they were never there.

Chinese aircrafts just exercised the freedom of international airspace. USA must constrain from unproductive statement which abuse the basic international airspace legislation!

Nobody are threatening an US Carrier without dire consequences for their nation, and any attack on one of our Allies means war against an American.
If China wants to invade America we are prepared and dont give up as we are Spartans….and a winner nation!
