The Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) has released photos revealing that Chinese-made LJ-7 air-to-surface guided missiles were used in the October 5 attack on Misrata Airport in the northern part of the country.
The photos showed parts of the missiles’ boosters, fins and internal gas cylinder. The damage inflicted by the missiles on a service vehicle and a civilian airliner in the airport can also be seen in the photos.
The LJ-7 is the export version of the semi-active laser guided HJ-10 missile. The missile has a range of up to 7km. Its warhead is capable of penetrating 1,400mm of armour.
China’s CAIG Wing Loong Wing Loong unnamed combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) is known to be the main carrier for this type of missiles. The UAE Air Force (UAEAF) is the only side operating this type of drones over Libya.
The Libyan National Army (LNA), the UAE’s main ally in Libya, claimed responsibility for the attack on Misrata airport, saying that they destroyed a control center for Turkish drones.
LJ-7 missiles were first spotted in Libya last May. Despite the lack of a crucial evidence, the UAEAF is believed to be behind airstrikes carried out with this type of missiles.
I’m assuming UAE bought the drones from china? Regardless who made the missile it did its job haha
With the bonus that the Chinese missile did not hit a ‘wedding celebration’ , as US missiles are prone to do :)
ahahhahaha yea im surprised they have not fixed that yet
AWGM = Anti-Wedding Guided Missile.
LOL.
