On November 16th, the CIA concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered dissident Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, according to unnamed officials cited by the Washington Post.
According to the unnamed senior US official the conclusion is based on a recording provided by the Turkish government and other evidence, including American intelligence.
Earlier, on November 12th, Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, became the first western leader to confirm Turkish claims that an audio recording of Jamal Khashoggi’s murder exists and has been passed to intelligence agencies.
CIA Investigators also believe the operation couldn’t have taken place without bin Salman’s knowledge given his control of the government, the senior US official said.
CNN cited a Saudi Embassy spokeswoman who said in a statement that “the claims in this purported assessment are false. We have and continue to hear various theories without seeing the primary basis for these speculations.”
A spokesman for the CIA declined to comment to the Post. The Saudi government has denied bin Salman’s involvement in Khashoggi’s death.
There has been reasonable speculation that MbS, did order the killing, however the Trump administration and other Saudi allies have refused to see it.
It is still unlikely that any tangible actions will be undertaken to sanction the Kingdom’s misconduct. It is yet to be seen if the newly proposed bill to embargo arms sales to Saudi Arabia will pass in the Congress.
Hands up who expects the same amounts of OUTRAGE to be given over this in the Western MSM and capitals as over any fart that Assad makes in Syria.

“The West” has (Germany) and probably will (the US) stop weapons exports to Saudi Arabia. At the same time, there is no word in the “East” (Russia, China). Those that point fingers should first look at themselves. There are tangible consequences.

The UK/US response to this will be the inevitable – look at Iran, the major state sponsor of terrorism around the World. Meanwhile the slaughter in Yemen continues whilst the World looks away, and Saudi backed Wahabbi extremists are fighting against Assad in Syria.
This is a tricky one, the only rule with western media is that the thing they are talking about is not what they are claiming it is. This is the sort of coverage you expect to see about a leader before an attempt at destroying their country. I’m wondering if maybe MBS wanted to cut his losses and pull out of Yemen and his masters are reminding him that if he starts thinking for himself they can always bring “freedom” to Saudi Arabia too?

True. Everyone knows that the Saudi government is the most backward and avid sponsor of terrorism in the world, but they sit on top of a pile of money and do what the US dictates. MBS has broken with this, purchased S400s against the dictates of the US, hasn’t increased the barrels of oil requested of them forcing Trump to use the US oil reserves to maintain the price anddddddd, there’s a family member (prince) in the wings with a long history of working with and support of the CIA. Another point is that all of the murder done by the Saudis in Yemen has not elicited any serious cries from the US government even when school buses were directly targeted by the Saudis and yet, one guy working for the CIA sponsored Washington Post gets murdered (which was horrendous but then again that is what the Saudis do religiously) and suddenly, the West is up in arms about it, from the CIA to the Brits etc. Yep, the CIA wants their groomed prince on the throne. That’s what the ruckus is really all about.
