Civil Security Helicopter Crashed In Southeastern France

On September 12, a Civil Security helicopter crashed in the town of Villard-de-Lans  in southeastern France, leaving one dead and four injured.

According to a press release of the local prefecture, the security helicopter was called to to rescue a mountain biker in the mountainous region. A crew of five was onboard of the helicopter, including a pilot, a mechanic and 3 rescuers.

The mechanic was killed as a result of the incident. The other crew members were evacuated to the Grenoble University Hospital. One of them was in serious condition.

According to preliminary data, a technical problem likely was the cause of the accident. An investigation was opened by the Grenoble prosecutor’s office.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims.

I don’t mean to be callous but how does this incident affect geopolitics? Unless there is someone important that affects geopolitics onboard, this would be like reporting on car collisions.
