Clashes between the pro-government Syrian National Defense Forces (NDF) and Asayish, the security wing of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are still ongoing in the city of al-Qamishli in northeastern Syria.
The clashes came to a temporary halt on April 22 morning. A delegation of the Russian Military Police and the Syrian Arab Army met with representatives of Asayish in the Tayy district, where the clashes first broke out.
The two sides reportedly agreed on a ceasefire to de-escalate tensions in al-Qamishli. However, clashes between the NDF and Asayish returned in the noon. Each side accused the other of violating the Russian-brokered ceasefire.
Both the NDF and Asayish used heavy weapons in the clashes. A child, Mahmood Mahmood, 14, died after sustaining wounds from the clashes. Other civilians were reportedly injured.
The heavy clashes spread to the district of al- Bsheiriyeh, where members of the Syrian Military Intelligence Directorate opened fire at a temporary checkpoint of Asayish.
A personal dispute that saw NDF fighters killing an Asayish officer caused the clashes. According to several sources, both sides sustained human losses. The total number of casualties is yet to be revealed.
The SDF is now accusing Damascus and Russian forces of backing what it called “provocations” by the NDF. The US-backed group appears to be taking advantage of the incident to limit the influence of government forces in al-Qamishli city.

It is the plan of SDF terriost under US command to remove SAA/Russia from Qamisli and occypy whole city and Air port. so US can take over Airport and control. This Asayish thugs should be hit hard by SAA and Russia and eliminate them Asyaish are the main problem in SDF. Russia should give warning to this Asyaish.
sdf is the gate keeper for the oil rich part of syria and the proceeds from the theft of oil is the jews illegally occupying palestine – get rid of the jews and about 80 pct of the problems in the middle east will take care of themselves.

The plan was and is, that SDFs as mainly only farmers but also a majority should control the most important citycenters.
Those Assads supporters many times – for good and bad reasons – deny to accept those facts. By that SDFs has reduced the territory because of violent opposition agains those vital for SDFs.
By that the Assads of course has got their local independensy reduced.
Now when Assad are there as well as Russians, they think things has changed and try again.

Is that why the local population of al-Qamishli overwhelmingly voted for the Baathists during the last parliamentary elections, and why they’re coming out in droves supporting Assad in this current presidential election, even though they’re not allowed to vote this time around. Cry democracy all you like Jens but this time around it’s the US not allowing the people of Syria to have their say, why can’t the local al-Qamishli population vote in this presidential election if they want to? It’s because the local population would overwhelmingly vote for Assad, and there are many other regions and areas of the autonomous zone that Assad would be just as popular. If Assad was destroying the institutions in al-Qamishli as you assert, why is the locals prefer to use the Syrian Government administration to conduct their business and trade affairs over the SDC/SDF administration equivalents, and it’s not just the locals in al-Qamishli who prefer to use the Syrian Government institutions, people from areas outside of al-Qamishli and Al Hasakah prefer to do business with the Syrian Government too.
From what I understand the NDF in this area are directly sponsored by Russia, so there is no need for mediation between the 2 warring parties, only direct mediation between Russia and the SDC/SDF. The local NDF take orders from the Russians and Asayish take their orders from the SDC, so it’s Russia and the SDC who have to mediate, not their soldiers who should be only following orders.
