Clashes Between US-backed Forces And ISIS In Hajin. Coalition Reportedly Carried Out 230 Airstrikes (Map Update)

Support SouthFront

Clashes are ongoing between the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the area of Hajin in the Euphrates Valley. Over the past few days, the SDF has slowed down its advance in the area and it seems that ISIS has stabilized the frontline in the town at least partly.

The ISIS-linked news angency Amaq reported  that the US-led coalition carried out at least 230 airstrikes on positions in the area in the period from December 1 to December 10.

If the situation develops in this direction and the SDF is not going to contribute additional efforts, ISIS may remain in control of the Hajin pocket for another month or even few.

The Arabic-language website of Sputnik quoted well-informed sources as disclosing that almost 400 non-Syrian terrorists have arrived in Idlib through Turkey’s Southern border with Syria in the last two months.

It further said that the terrorists that had arrived in the region from Yemen crossed the Turkish border into Syria’s border towns of Sarmada and Atmah in Idlib in 8 and 15-member groups, adding that the terrorists’ transfer from Yemen to Idlib was supervised by a regional state.

The report did not mention the name of the regional state that had assisted the move, but said that Horras al-Deen militants have settled the newcomers in one of their bases between Idlib and Northern Hama that had been set up 20 days ago.

The news agency said that Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) has eased transfer of the terrorists to regions under Horras al-Deen’s control in Idlib.

Militant-affiliated sources reported last week that the Ankara-backed National Liberation Front (NLF) started preparing its gunmen to counter any possible attack by the Syrian Army troops in the Northern part of the country amid other terrorists’ provocative measures in the demilitarized zone in Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Lattakia provinces.

The sources disclosed that NLF Spokesman Naji Mustafa urged the group’s fighters to be on alert to counter the army’s possible operation in Northern Syria.

In the meantime, military sources said that that the army forwarded a large number of forces and military equipment from the newly-freed regions in Southern Syria to Jabal al-Turkmen and the Northern part of al-Ghaab Plain.

Also, more army units have left their bases in Southern Raqqa and Eastern Aleppo for contact lines with terrorists in Southern Aleppo, the sources said, adding that the army’s Tiger Forces and the 5th Division that ended their mission in Sweida Desert have been forwarded to al-Ghaab Plain, Northern Hama and Abu al-Dhohour in Southeastern Idlib.

I told you last week: stop treating turkey as a homogenous entity, there are multiple factions all undermining each other, with western intelligence support.

I dont like turkey but right now they must be part of the solution. Idlibistan will get their time. Wait

I hope this time they stop when they reach the borders of turkey.

Rumor has it, that the turks, also plan to attack where the nato forces are also.

“…and it seems that ISIS has stabilized the frontline in the town at least partly.”

See, this is exactly what confuses me about CENTCOMs competence and/or intent. We have F-15s with laser-guided bombs. We got B-52s. We got M777s on the Iraqi border, but not close enough to Hajin to level it. The God damn Stennis Carrier Strike Group is bobbing around the Persian Gulf provoking Iran, but is apparently useless against ISIS nutjobs in hand-dug tunnels hiding under mud huts.

The Head-choppers shouldn’t have any identifiable front line to stabilize because, if it existed, it should be turned to dust and/or a large, smoking crater. Even if CENTCOM only had 12 SDF in total attacking Hajin, they should have been able to take it by now.

Maybe someone should call MacDill and tell them they think they see a few Russian contractors sneaking around Hajin. CENTCOM would have the entire east bank of the Euphrates from Hajin to Abu Kamal leveled in six hours.
