An intense fighting is ongoing between Syrian government forces and ISIS terrorists in the vicinity of the Jirah Military Airbase in the province of Aleppo.
Government troops have engaged ISIS members in the areas west and north of the airbase while the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force have carried out multiple airstrikes on ISIS units and military equipment in the airbase and southeast of it.
ISIS uses suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (SVBIEDs) against government troops in the area. This indicates that terrorists are set to defend the Jirah Military Airbase from the government advance.
The Jirah Military Airbase is one of the last remaining ISIS defense sites in the province of Aleppo. If it falls into hands of the government forces, the road on on the strategic town of Maskanah will be open for the Syrian Army and its allies.

Yesterday, government forces, led by the Syran Army Tiger Forces, renewed their operation against ISIS in the eastern Aleppo countryside. Since then, they had taken control of the village of Al-Mahdoum and started attacks against ISIS terrorists in the vicinity of the Jirah Military Airbase.
Carpet bombing might be the easiest solution at Jirah airbase. By now it is a warren of rat tunnels anyway.
