Combat Footage: Boko Haram Terrorists Shot Down Warplane Over Nigeria’s Borno

Wreckage with the serial number of the downed Alpha Jet NAF475.

On April 2, the Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS), commonly known as Boko Haram, confirmed that its fighters had shot down an Alpha Jet of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The NAF lost contact with the French-made jet over the northeastern state of Borno on March 31. Edward Gabkwet, a spokesman for the air force, said that the jet was on interdiction mission in support of ground troops.

A video shared by JAS shows the fighter jet bursting into flames as it falls from the sky. The video also shows footage of the jet’s wreckage.

The Alpha Jet may have been targeted with a man-portable air-defense system. A more logical explanation is that the fighter jet was hit with a heavy machine gun. Boko Haram fighters are in possession of many types of heavy machine guns.

The fate of the jet’s two pilots remains uncertain. According to the NAF, a large search operation to rescue the pilots is ongoing in Borno.

“Extensive search and rescue efforts are still ongoing by NAF surveillance aircraft as well as NAF Special Forces and Nigerian Army troops on ground,” air force spokesman said. “At this point, the NAF is not ruling out anything regarding the incident. It however remains hopeful that the crew would soon be found and rescued.”

Under the leadership of Abubakar Shekau, JAS joined ISIS branch in West Africa in 2015 only to leave the group a few years later due to disagreements on leadership issues.

Currently, JAS and ISIS are both present and active against Nigerian government forces in Borno. The situation in the state is only getting worse, especially in the areas bordering Lake Chad.

Man I wonder where they got those stingers, I mean unidentified manpads :/

John Wallace

Yes that is a bit of a game changer. There is always a black market with willing sellers for a price.

Fog of War

Why cant the Taliban get any then ?

John Wallace

I don’t know. I don’t know where these ones came from or who sold them or what was actually used. It appears to be a missile of some sort.. Maybe the Taliban can’t afford them or not worried about aircraft or they like making their own weapons.. I would go and ask but last time they said not to come back..

John Wallace

They are hopeful of finding the two pilots … alive … yeah right.

Icarus Tanović

This doesn’t looks like manpad, more like something more serious. And those who are theirs masters gave them this. This can’t be find on the market. Destabilized Nigeria is in someones interest.

FlorianGeyer

The US has a history of fermenting civil wars, as we all realise :) The US funds both sides covertly or openly.

It’s what we know from the jewstream media as ‘US Democratic Values’.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

They have a lot of oil in Nigeria, Africas powerhouse of the future.

That’s more than enough reason for the Zio’s to release their proxies.

Icarus Tanović

To release theirs creatures of hell. Wahhabis are theirs trusty tool, under cover of ‘real Islam’. Germany and Russia have theirs interests there, so this is the reason. China have theirs in Mozambique and oil too. Just look at that interview with Ibrahim Idris chief police officer. Man can not go further entire speech from ‘transmission to transition to transmission to, sorry sir, transmission of transition…’ and it goes on and on. They’ve drugged him with a little of lsd.

Noydb

A more logical explanation is that the fighter jet was hit with a heavy machine gun.

You can see the manpad launch flare on the right at the beginning of the video. And you can see a few shrapnel holes in the fuselage of the downed craft. It was a manpad.

Fog of War

Amazing, ISIS /Jihadis are able to shoot down planes, yet the Taliban or Syria cant seem to knock out US aircraft after years of combat.

Jihadi Colin

The Taliban took down many. Amerikastan just pretends it’s “accidental crashes”.

Fog of War

If the Taliban really had that capability there would be ” accidental crashes ” happening everyday.

Jihadi Colin

The Taliban has not been shooting at Amerikastan for over a year now. And Amerikastani crashes in Afghanistan have also stopped happening.

Fog of War

” The Taliban has not been shooting at Amerikastan for over a year now. ”

And why is that ?

John Wallace

Because the Taliban made an agreement that they would stop attacking Americans and America would withdraw from Afghanistan… only America has changed its mind …. again .. as after all they always make agreements on toilet paper … Which is another reason why when America tells Iran .. you stop enriching and we will consider dropping sanctions … sometime in the future … and Iran says You drop sanctions and we will return to the agreement .. after all you were the ones that changed your minds and pulled out of the agreement and imposed sanctions …

Jihadi Colin

In case you genuinely don’t know – and it’s almost impossible that you don’t – it’s because Trump had promised to withdraw all occupation forces by 1 May 2021.

Fog of War

I do know , I’m just calling BS on this one. Its very easy logic, compare how many aircraft the Soviets lost during their Afghan adventure to how many the ZioWest has lost. Not even close, therefore, its logical to assume the Taliban have no where near the AA capability the Mujaheddin had. Not to mention the Soviet adventure was way shorter then the current Afghan war.

Supreme Blyat

Russia needs to prevent that because Americans could acuse Russia of helping Assad and use this as pretext to sanction some billionaires in Moscow.

Fog of War

Not the billionaires. This can not be allowed, get Putin on the phone.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

I’d say the pilot/s never got out, given the dead body in the footage. Also, it would be hard to jump out of an exploding plane.

FlorianGeyer

Yes, and even IF a pilot could have bailed out, would he really want a violent slow death , courtesy of Boko Haram?

Roman Filipov

FlorianGeyer

Yes, he was a man of great courage with a love of his country. He is an example for all of us to aspire to.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

There’s no chance of beating men like that. It looks like the Nigerian pilot was killed by the hits to the plane.

Jihadi Colin

Aircraft hit by heavy machine guns don’t usually explode in fireballs like that.

Lavrenty Beria

Ground fire might’ve cause the detonation of aircraft ordnance, rocket pod.

Jihadi Colin

You can actually see the missile smoke trail coming from the upper edge of the screen.

Lavrenty Beria

All I see is maybe a faint contrail coming from the jet pulling out of its dive before it explodes.

Jihadi Colin

At 45° to the line of flight? That’s some contrail.

Pave Way IV

FFS… That has to be some of the worst fake footage of an aircraft strike I have ever seen. It’s absolutely cartoonish. These guys may have shot down a jet or found the wreckage of one, but that sure as fuck isn’t video of it getting hit.

HiaNd

“but that sure as fuck isn’t video of it getting hit”

It is…. on very low budget movies :)

FSB says Ukrainian extremist collaborator plotted to terrorize Central Asians in Altai

“A local resident who is a Russian citizen …was detained…for plotting overt actions of intimidation against the local population, including natives of the Central Asian region, and against places of mass gathering of Muslims, as well as against government bodies, on the instructions of a so-called handler of the Ukrainian nationalist organization dubbed the Ethnic National Association,” the spokesman said. https://tass.com/emergencies/1273571
