On July 22, the Afrin Liberation Forces (ALF) released videos of three recent attacks on Turkish forces in the northern countryside of Syria’s Aleppo.
The first video shows an attack that took place in the district of Rajo in northern Afrin on July 16. ALF fighters targeted a mini truck of Turkish-backed militants with an improvised explosive device. Three militants were killed and another was wounded.
The second video shows a strike with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) on a post of Turkish-backed militants near the village of Kaljibrin on July 19. Two militants were killed and another was wounded.
The last video, also from July 19, shows ATGM strikes on two armed pickup trucks of Turkish-backed militants in the outskirts of the town of al-Bab. Seven militants were killed, while five others wounded.
The attacks represent a comeback for the ALF, which carried out very few attacks on Turkish forces in the northern Aleppo countryside in the last few months.
The Kurdish guerilla group has been relying more and more on advanced weapons, like ATGMs and sniper rifles equipped with thermal sights. Turkish forces are yet to take any meaningful action against the group.
