Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew publicly admitted that the so-called ‘independent’ Orthodox Church of Ukraine had been created as a tool of the geopolitical standoff in eastern Europe.
Commenting on the Ukraine question to Кomanian media, he claimed that “for many years” religious and political “leaders of Ukraine” have been seeking to create an independent church, which was is “associated with democracy in the West than with a repressive regime in the East.”
Bartholomew added that he believes that the “mission” of the Ecumenical Patriarchate is to encourage and enable the creation of such a church. By this comment, the leader of the Constantinople Patriarchate officially confirmed that the creation of the ‘independent’ Ukrainian church was a solely political move and had little common with spiritual redemption and the Orthodox Church itself. The goal was to creat such an entity that will help to push the Ukrainian society into the ‘right direction’: The direction in which it will become a tool of forces supporting the new of neo-liberalal World Order and the Cold War 2.0.
No surprise that these actions are leading to a split of the Orthodox World and undermining the credibility of the Orthodox Church as a religious system.
Yo Russia you have your churches in Russia don’t you worry about churches outside of the real Russian borders , its NOT your concern . And Ukraine is NOT part of Russia just so you know .
Okraina never existed. all territory belongs to Russia.
You’re an expert on Churches and ecumenical matters I suppose?
retard says what?
And what of Ukranians and Russians in Ukraine that identify with Russian Orthodoxy?
It is .it is the birthplace of Christian Rus. The Kievan Rus.
The very fact that supposedly ‘pious’ religious folk can be found within the church who will gladly twist existing laws to facilitate political turmoil and expediency, does show that the church cares about the church and little else.
People would be better served listening to historians than the mumbo-jumbo uttered by self aggrandising and self indulgent types who like to insert a level of control between gov’ts and the people. The church at best can really only offer false hope. Still, if religious doctrines manage to keep the gullible from killing each other i suppose it’s a good thing. However, history has shown that religious fractions usually have the opposite effect. In that respect church leaders are really no better than politicians on the make.
As all the churches, now what?
Move the capital of Orthodoxy to Moscow, that’s where it should naturally be now.
De facto it’s already happened. Moscow sees no need to stir things up with a formal announcement of that which is already accomplished. And to put the icing on the cake, Putin is supporting the creation of an Orthodox “Vatican” at Sergei Posad.
You do not have to move it. It is already de-facto there. Read Canon 28 (4th Ec.Synod), it clicks exactly. Only problem is !: After say 100 years it may again “de facto” move to the capital of China or India!
South Front, you forgot to mention Patriarch Onufry, the Patriarch of the canonical Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
