The Kiev regime does not accept the reality on the front lines and the military command continues attempts to achieve at least some gains of the failed counteroffensive, loosing more military equipment and manpower in daily attacks. The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that the total losses of the Ukrainian army during the day amounted to more than 600 servicemen, including killed and wounded.
Kiev’s counteroffensive on the southern front lines turned into a bloody failure. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) do not stop attacks in the areas south of Orekhov.
Ukrainian forces continue attempts to gain a foothold on the outskirts of Novoprokopovka south of Rabotino. On October 8, all Ukrainian servicemen who were hiding in the buildings on the outskirts were destroyed and forced to retreat. On October 9, the AFU launched new attacks and managed to reach the northern outskirts of the village. However, they again failed to gain a foothold and repelled by Russian forces. Fighting is ongoing in the fields nearby, there are battles for control of the heights near the settlement.
On the evening, a large column of Ukrainian armored vehicles was spotted entering the town of Orekhov. The column reportedly included up to 40 vehicles, which came under fire of Russian artillery. As a result, a large fire broke out in the area.
The rains began in steppes in southern Ukrainian regions, which marked the end of the active phase of Kiev’s counter offensive. The Ukrainian military stopped major assaults and continues tactical attacks by small groups. In their turn, Russian forces launch counterattacks in different areas, repelling the AFU from their positions.
Meanwhile, heavy artillery duels continue. The both sides launch drone strikes, while Russian aircraft continue pounding Ukrainian military positions.
