New York Mayor Bill de Blasio agreed with Governor Andrew Cuomo to implement a curfew on Monday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
In the face of the unrest, the Mayor and Governor of New York announced in a statement that the police will double their presence on the streets to help prevent violence, damage and looting.
About a thousand protesters protested peacefully Monday afternoon in Times Square, applauding and shouting “George Floyd, George Floyd” and “Black Lives Matter” in front of policemen wearing riot uniforms.
“The demonstrations that we have seen have been generally peaceful. We cannot let violence undermine the message of this moment. It is too important and the message must be heard,” said the mayor.
De Blasio is married to an Afro-descendant woman and his daughter Chiara, 25, participated in a protest over Floyd’s death on Saturday and was detained by police, who released her the same day. The mayor told reporters that he was ‘proud’ of her.
Mayor de Blasio said he spoke to police chief Dermot Shea about incidents of oppression and excessive violence against protesters. For example, a police van was filmed as it launched into a group of protesters, and the case is under investigation. “We agree on the need for rapid action,” he said

At least two people have died in Iowa and one more in Kentucky during the sixth night of racial unrest in the United States, where more than 40 cities were under curfew.
Davenport (Iowa) Police Chief Paul Sikorski has said that authorities received reports last night of a disturbance at the North Park shopping centre involving hundreds of vehicles and ‘vandals’.
Sikorski has pointed out that before dawn on Monday, the Police responded to dozens of incidents in the city in which there were gunshots, adding that there were four wounded.
Two people have died in different parts of the city and authorities are investigating cases such as homicides, the official added.
In Kentucky, police are investigating the death of a person during a shooting on Sunday as police officers and National Guard officers dispersed a crowd from a parking lot during protests for the death of George Floyd, as announced on Monday by the state governor, Andy Beshear.
Local Police Chief Steve Conrad has stated that “officers and soldiers started cleaning the parking lot and at one point someone shot at them. Both members of the Police and the National Guard returned fire and one person was killed. According to Conrad, several people are being questioned and videos of the scene are being analysed.
Protests over Floyd’s death have merged with demands for justice in Kentucky over the March death of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman who was shot by Louisville police officers in her apartment while they were carrying out a warrantless raid during a drug investigation.
Several law enforcement officers were shot Monday night and Tuesday morning as protests continued across the nation in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. Four officers in St. Louis were hit with gunfire during overnight protests, and an officer shot in Las Vegas was in critical condition Tuesday morning, officials said.
Two New York law enforcement officers were in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle during a Monday night protest, authorities said. The officers – one from the Buffalo Police Department, the other from New York State Police – were taken to Erie County Medical Center. Video of the incident shows a vehicle barreling through officers, accelerating through an intersection after several officers apparently tackled a person on the street and handcuffed him.
In addition to the numerous deaths that have occurred, at least 4,400 people have been arrested for such offenses as stealing, blocking highways and breaking curfew, according to a count compiled by The Associated Press.
However, in some places, police tried to calm tensions by kneeling in solidarity with demonstrators. I am waiting for the moment when frightened national guardsmen ( many of whom are very young men and women ,from the images I have seen,when they panic and cut down scores or hundreds of protesters. Such an incident took place on a university campus during the Vietnam war and the repercussions changed the course of that US war of choice.

The films will force Minneapolis and Minnesota to drop all charges against the officers because they show George Floyd having a sudden heart seizure inside the squad car and the officers did as trained to get him prone and motionless on the ground to slow down his racing heart, which failed before the ambulance arrived. The coroner’s report revealed that Floyd had heart problems that are caused by long term use of cocaine and meth plus had unknown intoxicants in his blood, which turned out to be fentanyl and meth. Those two are combined to create a speedball on steroids that produces a strong push-pull high, where one is smooth and sedated on the opioid for a while before experiencing an electrifying rush from the stimulant. George got his rush when inside the squad car where he realized what was happening so started fighting with the officers to get out. The oxygen level in his blood was low due to taking short shallow breaths while buzzed on the fentanyl so his heart had to beat extremely fast to get more oxygen poor blood to his now worked muscles. His heart began seizing which caused Floyd to start complaining about being unable to breathe. The officers weren’t aware that he was on speedballs until his behavior suddenly switched from a drowsy doper to a panicked paranoid so got him down and motionless to slow his heart beat. Shit like that happens to the police all the time since so many drug users combine opioids and stimulants.

The knee on Floyd’s neck held Floyd’s upper torso down. He couldn’t put weight directly on Floyd’s upper back since that would impede his shallow breathing. The officer’s knee rested on thick neck muscles that surround the vertebrae. The blood vessels to the brain are alongside the windpipe in front so weren’t affected by any weight applied by his knee. Floyd couldn’t breathe because he had a heart attack when he tried forcing his way out of the squad car. Having sudden difficulty breathing is a common symptom of a heart seizure.
how do you know he was laying on his stomach and not his back during all this? and wasnt he in handcuffs? dont know how he could force his way out of the car in handcuffs
There’s several videos and plenty of photos taken by bystanders that show Floyd laying on his stomach until he was rolled over to be placed on a stretcher. An officer placed handcuffs on Floyd as soon as he was standing outside of his car. Floyd was visibly intoxicated when taken out of the car and had trouble walking without falling down. Floyd was 6’6″ and a bodybuilder so would’ve been quite a handful even cuffed if sober when he tried forcing his way out of the squad. Floyd basically came out of a slow opiod stupor with an energized meth rush that made him aware of being cuffed inside a squad car so began fighting to get out. That caused his weak heart to suddenly beat at a high rate which cause it to start having seizures and restricting his breathing. The cops over here encounter crap like that all the time when dealing with meth heads, crack heads and other hard drug users when those losers have heart attacks while fighting the police, while running away or after being caught and are sitting down. Nobody blames the police if the dead perp was White or Hispanic, only if they’re Black.

That’s when he was first heard saying he couldn’t breathe, which is a common complaint by those having a heart attack. His was brought on by sudden strenuous activity brought on by the meth in his system that woke him up from an opioid slumber. The sudden elevated heart beat was more than his diseased heart could take so it simply gave out before the ambulance arrived.
