On September 30, the situation on the front lines in the area of Krasny Liman worsened for the Russian military. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continued their advance and almost managed to surround the town.
On the morning, Russian forces began their withdrawal from the village of Drobyshevo, located north of Liman, and the village of Yampol to the south of the town. The Ukrainian units which stormed the settlements are heavily shelled by the retreating forces.

Bypassing Krasny Liman from the north, the AFU occupied Kolodezi, Zelenaya Dolina. The road from the city of Svatovo to Liman was cut by Ukrainian forces.
At night, the Ukrainian offensive was stopped in the area of Stavki. At the moment, the front line runs along the southern outskirts of Stavki to the northern outskirts of Zarechnoe. To the north of Zarechnoe, the Ukrainian reconnaissance groups cross to the Zherebets River and operate in the area of the road to Svatovo. According to reports from the spot, the Russian military has recently sent reinforcements to the area.
The last road leading to Liman from Kremennaya which was used for the supplies of the Russian grouping came under fire control of Ukrainian artillery.
Despite the threat of blockade of the town of Liman, the Russian grouping is defending their positions. No evacuation of the Russian military from the town has been reported. On the evening of September 29, the local administration confirmed that the authorities did not leave the town.

The settlement of Krasny Liman. Of course, the “Road of Life” is under enemy fire, but you can drive along it. Our garrison in the city is not cut off from supplies. Locals of course are hiding in basements and shelters. It is rare to meet a passerby. The city is under constant shelling. The defenders of the city are not discouraged. According to the commandant, everything is under complete control. But once again, the situation is difficult.

We are the military commandant’s office now in Krasny Liman. The operator will go outside, show the administration. There are troops here. Accordingly, if the military commandant’s office is in place, our line of defense is not broken. The city is standing, the troops are holding on, our morale is high as from the first days of the war. No one is discouraged. Everything will be fine, the victory will be ours.
The Ukrainian offensive operation is carried out by large forces, supported by foreign military equipment, including HIMARs MLRS. NATO military instructors provide the Ukrainian military with the necessary intelligence support, coordinate operations and command the Ukrainian officers.
The goal of the Ukrainian military is to cut communication between the LPR and the Belgorod and Voronezh regions of Russia. The AFU need to take control of the town of Svatovo and further threaten Starobelsk. If the AFU succeed, their advance will his will destroy Russian defences in the northern Donbass region. As a result, Russian-led forces may abandon the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk agglomeration.
The Ukrainian offensive in the Estuary has led to some success at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to sign an international agreement with the DPR, LPR and Kherson, Zaporozhye regions on their entry into the Russian Federation. Thus, the Ukrainian offensive leads not only to military, but also to media benefits.

There will be no cauldrons. Simply, the Russians retreat slowly and continuously pound the advancing Ukrainians, who for their part suffer unacceptable losses for what they achieve. If the Russians decimated the Ukrainians while the Ukrainians were defending themselves in very well-fortified positions, you can only imagine how they suffer when they are on the move in the open without any air support and with very poor air defense. On the other hand, the Russians are making the same strategic mistake, again… first they gave up on the north-east of Ukraine and now they are not carrying out offensive operations on that battlefield, because in that case the Ukrainians would have to separate significant forces from the south and send them to the north. I might understand your point here… keep in mind, Russians took north to Kharkiv two times, i mean they took it when they wanted to. Izyum was left, without a fight, but Krasny Liman, they are holding. Some estimations are 90000 russians troops are involved plus 60000 LNR&DPR troops. Some two third are in reserve, back, so estimation is 50000 on 1000km front line. Main focus is liberation of DNR, this is where storm troops are located and destroying Ukrops fortification. If we go back in history, Vietnam had 250 000 troops facing 560 000 US troops plus 600 000 south vietnam troops, yeah at some point in time. Ho Shi Minh said back then, we don’t want to win the war tomorrow, in a month or in a year, we want war to last, so that our enemy bleeds. To be honest Russia is fighting whole NATO along with Ukropistan. The best part is that EU and USA are spending more resources then RF. IMHO RF is doing exactly what Ho Shi Minh did.
in 1941, the Soviet Union was swept away like Russia is now. They learned their lessons and build a new army in 1942 From the summer of 1943 the Red Army was unstoppable. Ukraine might have the upper hand now with all the western weapons and military technology, but Russia is learning and has been learning since februari. Most of all it has learned which commanders are decent, which tactics are obsolete, which weapons they need the most. It cost them a lot of material and manpower, but they still have an enormous manpower reserve and weapons reserve and war industry. Russians simply couldn’t organize new defenses nor they have enough reinforcements to cover this entire front after retreating from Khrakov/Izyum. Ukros know that and keep pushing at any cost, they have massive numerical superiority in both men and equipment, their losses are significant but not critical.
This was predictable 3 weeks ago, it’s actually some kind of success to delay Ukro offensive for this long. The real Ukro objective is Svatovo, eventually losing it means a major strategic defeat.
Kremlin delayed mobilization waaay too long, everyone knew this since February/March. Everyone except Russian leadership apparently… If they had enough reserves RuArmy could counterattack Stalingrad-style to inflict a decisive defeat on AFU. But they don’t, mobilized troops need a few more weeks, or even months for proper training and reorganization. Hopefully, Ukros will be stopped before they take Svatovo.

Power generation will stop the trains but APCs, tanks and trucks use diesel. It can’t help that much on the frontline, just slowdown reinforcement.

It would be over by now had they done it. They the UAF could not move the required equipment to the front and no offensive would have taken place. I honestly do not think they have the ability to do it. There was an attempt that hit several power stations in the region then that stopped after one day and a five hour power outage.
I believe russia does not do this because these things are very vulnerable and takes years to rebuild. UkrIne could then sabotage russias grid easily enough.
You ever try and drive a forty year old tank or APC 2000 miles? They are not HONDAs. The failure of Russian to destroy those bridges and rails to this day is and will be one of wars biggest fuckin mysteries. Its very much about so many parts of their military forces acts in very small groups and there hardly is no real front.
I take a short example most likely done north of Lyman as well. You send in grpups of 10 into a big area. They might even be divided in 2 groups. They are calm and not even fast. But they are silent and camoflaged.
They all are armed with one or two misslies of the smaller non tank kind. They know the enemies are there in smaller groups of soldiers, cars and by that are smaller targets.
They send up a small drone. If they can handle the target by their missiles and msall arms, they do.
If its big or hard armed targets, they drone see the GPS and tell it to the artilery 10 km away. Those arytillerists are ready for that. Grenades already are in the canon. So 4 minutes later fx 4 grendes from 4 canons arrrive. Many canons nowadays are quite accurate.

And the soldiers eleminate the leftovers or just go looking for a new target.

Failure to do so might result in a military desaster, difficult to undo by the new reserves. This is far more than a media campaign. What Lyman demonstrates is that if the enemy are willing to throw an unlimited number of bodies at a front line, then they will advance.
That is what Ukraine are doing, they have ‘blood to spare’ and are trading it for ground, but it cannot be sustained.
