Deployment Of U.S. MK-41 Missile Systems In Romania, Poland Violates INF Treaty: Russia

The US started deploying Aegis Ashore missile defense systems as well as MK-41 Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) tubes, which can be used to launch intermediate-range cruise missiles in Europe in June, the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

Vladimir Ermakov, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, stated that the deployment of MK-41 VLSs in Romania and Poland contradicts the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.

“There are also serious questions regarding the actions of our American colleagues that are contrary to the INF Treaty, including the ground-based deployment of universal Mk-41 launchers in Romania and Poland,” he said during a general debate in the First Committee of the UN General Assembly.

In May, US President Donald Trump accused Russia of violating the INF Treaty and ordered Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to propose new sanctions against Russia in connection with the alleged violations. Then, Moscow responded by saying that Russia had never violated the agreement. In turn, Russia says that the US is the side violating the INF Treaty on a constant basis.

Stand point of Russian must be , if USA to use rocket from Romanian and Bulgaria ,Rusian answerer by nuclear impact !! Sorry citzens of this country , you make joint with devil usa !

so

I’d venture to say that New York City and Washington dc would be gone. What happens to the rest of the world? I don’t know.

occupybacon

Exactly, nobody would survive. Why anyone should care?

John Whitehot

the reason is:

because some blockhead in virginia has come to the conclusion that after all, there could be a chance to “win” a nuclear war. So they started denouncing the treaties that have kept the world from becoming radioactive dust for 60 years.

There is also another reason:

the US, which is hellbent on destroying Russia into smaller entities, was worried that if the Russian nuclear arsenal got dispersed, some local would launch an ICBM or two against them.

The “missile shield” is largely based on that rationale, as it is pretty much impossible to stop a massed attack, from the largest nuclear power of the world, which includes a nuclear triad, but gives good chances against a handful of missiles.

it goes by itself, that when it’s the US that will face a civil war and the disfunction of all federal institutions, the rest of the world will better take its measure to stop any possible madness coming from some “Gen’ral Ripper”. in that context, Russia is doing a good job with the S-500.

occupybacon

Who is this “some blockhead in virginia has come to the conclusion that after all, there could be a chance to “win” a nuclear war”? The rest makes sense.

Sinbad2

If Russia destroyed the USA, most of the damage would remain in North America, sure there would be a spike in radiation, and cancer levels, but most of the world would survive. If the US goes first, most of humanity would be wiped out. Destroying America, would save many lives.

occupybacon

The blockhead from virginia just came out from its closet

occupybacon

They couldn’t care less

Sinbad2

Yeah but how does that help the millions of dead Russians from the American nukes? Russia needs to go first, and not wait for the inevitable American attack. If Russia wipes out the USA, there is a good chance the countries where the US has its nukes, will take out the Americans, to avoid a Russian attack. But the US would have to be totally destroyed, to convince the weak willed Europeans to act.

Sinbad2

That is the American strategy, they want a war with Russia, in Europe, that way Americans can watch it all on TV, whilst they eat pizza.

Rob

Itself Washington obtaining deadly weapons, installing around Russia, China, Mideast and advising others that you don’t obtain. What a moronic attitude.

so

Its suicidal actually.

Jesus

We know that the sea based Tomahawk is a piece of junk, subsequently, the threat posed by deploying Tomahawks in MK41 launchers in Romania and Poland is no different than the Tomahawks that did terribly against Russian EW and Syrian air defenses, however, it is still a violation of the INF treaty regardless of how crappy the weapon is. Russia can/has the ability to deploy land based equivalents of Kh101 cruise missiles and R26 Rubezh missiles (5000 kms) to keep Europe under the threat of deep strikes from Central Russia.

You can call me Al

“however, it is still a violation of the INF treaty regardless of how crappy the weapon is.–> ….. WHAT ?, WHAT DOES THAT MATTER ?, it is the insane, arrogant, warmongering, ZIO- US that break treaties not some normal diplomatic nation that wants peace.

Jesus

Zio-US break treaties based on demented knowledge of their military capabilities and Hollywood hubris, only to give the Russians the opportunity to deploy far more effective weapons. By breaking treaties they are digging their own grave. By breaking the nuclear treaty with Iran, US is facing stiff challenges from “allies” and and major countries thumbing their noses at US sanctions, setting up a new payment system that will circumvent the SWIFT……etc.

Sinbad2

These are not Tomahawk cruise missiles, they are real Mach10 missiles, one or more of Americas rim jobs. RIM174 for example.

Jesus

MK 41 vertical launchers can fire the RIM 174 anti ballistic Standard missiles, however the launcher can accommodate the Tomahawk cruise missile as well. That is where the Russians claim that US is breaking the INF agreement, basing ( highly likely) cruise missiles that exceed 500 kms range.

Sinbad2

The Mk 41 is capable of firing the following missiles: RIM-66 Standard, RIM-67 Standard, RIM-161 Standard Missile 3, RIM-174 Standard ERAM, RGM-109 Tomahawk, RUM-139 VL-ASROC, RIM-7 Sea Sparrow, and RIM-162 ESSM.[2]

Harold Smith

The U.S. would have to use a nuke-capable surface to surface missile to do a first strike nuclear attack. The missile would have to be compatible with the MK-41 VLS and it would need to have a range of at least a few thousand km, I would think. The only missile that they have with these characteristics is the Tomahawk, AFAIK.

Sinbad2

That’s the whole point of putting them in Poland and Romania, Poland is less than 800 kliks from Russia, and Romania less than 500 kliks from Russia. Virtually any of the larger American missiles could carry a nuclear warhead, but for obvious reasons they wouldn’t announce that fact.

The US always moves missiles troops etc close to the target before it attacks. They have done it time and time again, and they are doing it now.

The US is preparing to attack Russia.

Harold Smith

Well yes but I thought the question was: What can the U.S. launch from MK-41 VLS that can attack Russia with nukes from Romania and Poland, and the only thing is the “slow and easy to jam missile …[the]…Tomahawk.”

Sinbad2

The US can launch a RIM-161 ballistic missile which has a range of 700, or 2500 km a speed of Mach 10, or Mach 15, depending on the model, using the MK-41 launcher.

Jesus

Those are antiballistic missiles, not surface or surface missiles, and they use kinetic warheads.

Harold Smith

That’s a surface to air missile. It’s the Tomahawk or nothing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_missiles_of_the_United_States_military

Sinbad2

Do you really think the Americans would be stupid enough to use a slow and easy to jam missile like a Tomahawk if they were launching a sneak nuclear attack, when they have very fast missiles?

Jesus

Yes I think they are stupid, unable to make sense of their present day realities, nuclear weapons with a range of 2000kms will be used for a tactical nuclear exchange.

Promitheas Apollonious

real mach 10? check again your info you are wrong.

Sinbad2

OK I checked, but you are obviously too lazy to check before shooting your mouth off.

The RIM-161 Standard Missile 3 (SM-3) is a ship-based missile system used by the United States Navy to intercept short- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles as a part of Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System.[4] Although primarily designed as an anti-ballistic missile, the SM-3 has also been employed in an anti-satellite capacity against a satellite at the lower end of low Earth orbit. Range 700 km (378 miles) Block IA/B 2,500 km (1,350 miles) Block IIA

Speed 3 km/s (Mach 10.2) Block IA/B 4.5 km/s (Mach 15.25) Block IIA

Promitheas Apollonious

“These are not Tomahawk cruise missiles, they are real Mach10 missiles, one or more of Americas rim jobs. RIM174 for example.“

Kid this is what you posted and answered to. beside you seem to be having an obsession with a total nuclear war and say nothing but jerking from the mouth half of the time.

Brad Isherwood

Putin/Russia allowed the US/NATO to deploy missile shield under pretext it was to protect Europe/NATO from Iranian ballistic missiles.

Russia did not protest too loudly this con.

Now they say the US /NATO violate INF treaty. So WTF….it’s OK when it’s Iran is Evil…. but not US/NATO?

That piece of Trash Rabbi Lazar told Putin S 300 to Syria was a Mistake. . And that Russia should be working with Israel to stop Iran in Syria.

WTF!…

Putin…you better create some Clarity about your actual position on things. It’s unclear where your Interests to Russia security are when Rabbi tells you bomb Iran is back on so let’s get going.

The INF treaty coments mean nothing when you let the Theif in the back door

John Whitehot

“Putin/Russia allowed the US/NATO to deploy missile shield under pretext it was to protect Europe/NATO from Iranian ballistic missiles.”

BS.

what Putin had to do? Start WW3?

Tommy Jensen

Stalin neither Sovjet would have allowed it. Stalin would have told them to pess off or else……..!

Sinbad2

Or else what? Nuke America, the US obviously intends to nuke Russia. Russia should get in first, before the US deploys its nukes seconds from Russia.

John Whitehot

Nonsensical blathering

Promitheas Apollonious

he allows them in full knowledge that not only this systems are completely worthless as their patriots are but also when shit hit the fan they be neutralized within the first hour. No worries.

Tommy Jensen

We have the right to defend America, our Western values and our Allies against aggression and Russia´s hypersonics Weapons of Mass Destructions.

If Russia can hit our assets in Syria from small Russian patroll boats in the Caspian Sea by Kalibr missiles, we also have the right to do something…….to balance peace.

Sinbad2

Russia might have to launch a preemptive strike, and end the American terror once and for all.

Davki

SF, you realise of course, that you’re doing exactly what you accuse NATO of. Dramatize and speculate without a shred of evidence and bending frames of ‘logic’ to the absurd. Of course, Selvas claims are stale too. If the US feels the “spirit” of the treaty should make it contain updated numbers, then they should negotiate it anew. The limits of < 500 etc. were set for a reason. Anyway, I'm worried about the course Eastern Europe is taking… but then, they've been occupied and de facto governed by Russia aka as the Soviet Union for very long… so their suspicion of Russia isn't completely without motive. Turning to the US for 'help', however, is a breathtakingly stupid thing to do. The sea powers do what they've always done: divide Europe, take possesion of the European fault line and encourage radical governments that they can control more easily.
